Weird, I wonder why Archive and Cooler seem to use the heightmap of a part of the island from Control, which is the complete opposite half of Jacutan. Especially with Cooler, since it's the only level with no exteriors.

if you create a big map and stuff it out, cryengine begins behaving very slow and laggy, the smartest solution is then a mapsplit, this is what you see here in many cases.

Makes sense - I was always wondering how in Crysis they arrived at the conclusion not to have the whole game in one map - I think they wanted to and stream it like in Half Life and when you look at how huge island.cry is and then the tiny piece of it that was used as Game area ... so probably they ran into limits. I can not find anywhere a listing of what the engine can handle in terms of assets, vegetation etc. ...

No, I mean, the part of the island that was cut out for Archives is not even the part where the Archive actually is, which I find weird.

Description

Maybe a good idea to show all 20 level heightmaps of the original FarCry 1 in sequence. You can see which levels shared the same heightmap (with alterations - notice for example how in Fort and Pier - the respective half of the heightmap for each level is more detailed).
