Five Elite Mercenaries are send to an Island in middle of the 1980'. The Task: Find and Eliminate a local Drug Baron. Features: new Physic, real Sunmovement, Day/Night Change, Hunger/Food system, realistic (!) Weather system, Light/Dark viewing system for AI, 5 different Fractions on the Island. Complete Realistic simulation of nearly all things, including Sleep. New weapons, new Vehicles. Vehicles driving system is now exact (!) like GTA IV , FireSystem,... this mod is Heavily inspired by GTA, IGI, FarCry.

flashlight is now a weapon, but you can "holster" it with active state.
this gives a noticable weaker light.

smaller light radius, cone and angle stay the same, this results less strong light inside the cone.
its hard to describe, but after one week of testing this is what feeled perfect and naturally.
i also tested with light off if flashlight is not active but this "feeled" wrong by playing.

i also was thinking about this, BUT:
imagine you have a flashlight in hands and you want to do a meleeknock out with but all what happens is: light :D

i'm not sure if this is to inconsistent / irritating.
or i have to ask first if a potential entity is in ~2m range and switch then to automatic melee mode :/
i actually have this implemented for empty weapons, and its working, but it feels not very common.
i also experiment with light strongness depending on batterie state and, if batterie is empty, a try to switch on, a short light impuls is given (this is actually the case, (its a bug)), but i'm thinking about letting this in, because this 1/10 second of light gives you the chance to navigate in total dark areas even if you dont have any other lightsource by emergency pressing fire :D

will see how the flashlight will develope. also i have a "weak" contact routine in mind, which lets randomly flicker the flashlight and play then a shake animation.
