Long since in development, Faerun Total War is finally going to make a first release. A mod for M2TW Kingdoms, set in the world of Forgotten Realms, in the vast continent of Faerun. While our campaign is being reworked, the first release is focusing on custom battles.

Description

So when I write that Assurbanippal as an example started development of the Nation of Rashemen in early October 2016, and finished in mid-December 2016, then I didn't mean that the models were fully playable in the mod, but only that all the models for the faction had been finished - it would take Assurbanippal at least 1-2 additional months before all those units had been properly rigged for the mod, so for example if the Rashemen had been made in December 2016, then it would take until February until the created models had been rigged - so the previews from inside the game would come a few months later usually at about the same time as development started on a new faction.

So, if the models were shown inside the game Medieval 2, why aren't they in the released demo of Faerun: Total War 0.2 or 0.1?

It's because Assurbanippal is testing all his models in the Third Age: Total War mod, as most of the models in the mod were based on Third Age: Total War models but with some exceptions. By testing the models out he can find out if they have glitches or not and fix them, and it also allows him to show off the models without needing to hand them unit-specific stats, unique entries with unique names and what-not - so he is essentially just replacing a model in Third Age or Call of Warhammer in order to test out his new models and take some pictures. Instead it was Wizard_of_Turmish who implemented everything into the actual mod and as he was one guy not everything made got implemented because of a lack of free time maybe.

So that's why there are entire factions outside of the mod.

And that's why this unit seen on this picture isn't in Faerun:Total War but is inside Third Age: Total War - in Assurbanippals personal version that he uses to test his models with.

This is why in 2020 me and WarcraftHero did implement a bunch of stuff that wasn't included in the demo, but that had been completed already back then.

And this is why in 2024 there are still 4½ factions left
