Epsilon Eridani is to happen in three parts, each of them divided in several chapters, each part seperated by a considerable amount of time. In Epsilon Eridani, you play Epsilon, the fifth member of a squad selected by the GMan, assembled a couple of weeks before the beginning of Half-Life 2.

A resistance soldier with the MP5 EOD.

I have for now been focusing on the coding. Below is the changes that I have successfully coded into Epsilon Eridani:

Added 4 new weapons:

  • Desert Eagle: Copied the CSS one, basically a mix between the rapid fire of the USP and the strength of the Colt
  • H&K G3 : Coded it to have full auto firing mode and a single-shot mode when you press the FireMode button (ie side-mouse button)
  • M-29 OICW: While many frown upon this weapon, the OICW is technically still INSIDE Half-Life 2, and since I want this mod to keep its Half-Life feeling but at the same give it a more professional feel, I'll be implementing the OICW.
  • Combine Overwatch sniper : The standard issue CO Sniper Rifle.

Changed:

  • Changed the SMG to the H&K MP5 EOD, using a model under the CC license.
  • Made weapons more powerful, so that a headshot clearly kills anyone, and so that 3 bullets from the OICW also kills.
  • Added and modified soldier models

However, I welcome any help I can get. I can take care of the coding, but I am searching for an experienced (and by that I do not mean a pro, just someone with more than the basics) mapper and an experienced skinner and modeler.

After much consideration, I've decided to make EE a mod for Episode2/Orange Box.

Well I've been pretty busy since I resumed work on Epsilon Eridani, I decided first to concentrate on the coding and all the aspects of the mod other than it's story and level design. I'm pleased to say the CSI Sniper is almost complete, here are some screenshots of it in action (click on the images for fullscreen):

Remember this part?

The Sniper and its laser

Getting owned by a Hunter

Apart from working on the Sniper's code (new weapon, laser etc...) I've been working on the following, and I'm happy to say all of the following is complete:

  • Iron sights with FOV and weapon precision change.
  • Four new weapons, one pistol (desert eagle) two SMGs (MP5 and G3), one assault rifle (OICW, weapon subject to change, OICW is for now a placeholder) and one sniper.
  • NPC's now use the OB's particle system for muzzle flashes.
  • Realistic magazine reloads, meaning that every bullet counts.
  • Scope system for the sniper (and maybe for future weapons with scopes) with full support for all three screen resolutions.

Although I'll take care of the mod's coding, I am always looking for people who want to join up with me in Epsilon Eridani. If you want to join and contribute to the mod, please send me a PM or e-mail. For now, I am looking for the following (keep in mind Epsilon Eridani is for me a learning project, and so I will welcome anyone who wants to join and develop their modding skills):

  • Modeler with animation experience (weapons, players, whichever)
  • Level designer

That's it for now, check out the mod's homepage for the Sniper's credit, a special thanks to BioHazard and FoXoF for helping me fix the Sniper's laser code!

I'll hazard a guess and say this is dead and buried.

@Everyone who's coming here to bitch about me using Creative Commons licensed material:
a) save yourself the time to post anything, it'll just be deleted.
b) it's my personal decision to choose models licensed under the CCL, so that I may focus on the coding and level design.
c) don't like it? I don't care, I like my mod the way it is, so **** off.
