Its just and idea, but is it possible to have multiple type of starbeses? I mean for example a stronger type on fortified imperial planets, and a smaller type on captured but not fortified / nonimportant planets. Like on Kuat could be a stronger type than on the captured Yavin or Tatooine.

I see your point. But I dont think there could be a similar type (regardles of its lvl) of space station is good enough for all planets. Like on Kuat vs Kessel. Even if you want to fortify your base there, you cant think in large space stations which are available to build at Kuat. Just imagine a Cardan in an asteroid field :D

The Fondor Shipyard is based on half of the shield gate in style with vast edits to the entire design and even being vastly larger.

Second Nantex's idea.
I would put in on Kuat as the SSD unlock upgrade, seperate to the space station, in the same slot as the sensor or gravity well generator.

Well, it’s the shieldgate from rogue one, if I would have had to suggest a new star base design I would have taken the one from Star Wars battlefront 2 that had hangar, docking clamps for isd and firepower, also you could easily show an upgrade by adding the second part for the last level and adding those “satellite” turrets around the station as upgrades, this would be cool as an objective to have in space battles that you have to disable for planets with planetary shields, like you need to disable the station so you can later board it and open it so that your forces can enter

The Shield Gate has 2 docking clamps for ISDs on top of each side, 6 hangars, 4 Refueling arms 24 Heavy Turbolasers and the entire rim is lined with AA turrets.

Dont know why you chose one unique kind of starbase to represent a general one. As this is a shield gate station, meaning the planet should be protected by a shield with only the shield gate being only entrance.

Description

Model and texture by Dice.
Turret model by me, texture by Dice.

This is the replacement for the Imperial starbase. It will have 5 levels. I haven't decided if I'm going to try to incorporate the planetary shield.

The station itself was already highly optimized, Dice did a great job of keeping it low poly at only 10K triangles. The turret itself I went slightly overboard with at 750 triangles. Thanks to Niko for this great find.
