Overview

Echoes of a Bygone Age is a work in progress mod for Mount and Blade: Warband, that will take place in a low fantasy world, where 100 years ago a once mighty empire collapsed leaving behind many small City States, who are locked in a bitter struggle for control. Each seeks to rebuild the old Empire in their ways, but only one can succeed...or perhaps none of them will, and a new power will rise, and rebuild the old Empire how it was built - through conquest.


The technology used by these many factions varies tremendously, which means the player will have access to many kinds of armies, from medieval armies with heavily armored troops, Pike and Shot armies, and even Napoleonic line infantry armies. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, and when used right can be a strong force on the battlefield. Use them wrong, and you'll wind up without an army.


If you wish to swear allegiance to a faction, you'll have many to choose from, as they only control a single city to begin, but if you wish to strike out on your own, and build your own Kingdom, you will have many others to contend with. However you choose, eventually many of the factions will be conquered, and a select few shall survive long enough to hold a large amount of territory.

Help Wanted!

This mod is in its very early stages, and currently I am the only person working on it. The modding community for Warband has created many fantastic OSPs that allow me to do much more then I could ever do without them, but there is still only so much I can do.


If you want to help with any one of the following things, send me a PM and if possible include some work of yours. Also, please mention if you'd like to just help with something or if you'd like to be a full team member.

Things you can help with:

Modelling
Texturing
Coding/Scripting
Scening
Testing
Probably other things I can't think of off the top of my head

Something to note: At the moment, testing and scening is not needed right away, as these things will not be done until the mod has progressed farther along. Also, the number of testers will be limited, so if you are interested in that then PM me as well. Keep in mind that no one will receive any versions to test for a bit, so it's more of a reservation at this point.

Note:

This mod is very WIP, and is only in its early stages. Everything you see is subject to change, and a lot likely will change. Also note that the Features list includes pretty much only things that are CURRENTLY in the mod, and will be updated regularly.

Quick Update

I thought I'd post a quick update here, as there are a couple things I'd like to make note of. For one, it seems imgur has decided to randomly delete some of my uploaded images, and now some of the articles are a bit f*cked. I'll see about getting them fixed soon, with any luck.

Also, I'll be releasing some more information and showing off new stuff soon, you can see some of this new stuff earlier by looking at the taleworld forum thread for the mod:

Hey I had a quick look at the taleworlds forum and the lore and such looks good. I understand it is in very early stages but I would still be happy to be a tester if you're willing to let me be one. I'd be more than happy to play the game every few versions and report any bugs and such that I find in my playthroughs.

Now,will this be a tad bit like brytenwlda where the enemy forms formations aswell?. I've always hated it when they just charged.

Ideally, yes. At the moment AI will do formations, but only very very simple ones, just two rows of troops max and a line. Though, they don't always charge, and I've also had quite a few times where they do charge but after some volleys from line infantry they fall back and assume a more defensive formation, and wait for me to advance on them. That said, I definitely want them to do more than that, and get in some proper formations.

I don't really have an estimate just yet, but the first release will definitely be out before 2017 :P once a lot more is complete I'll have a proper estimate.
