Hmm the idea of introducing gunpowder based weapons into thedas doesn't seem that bad to me...and the story you made up would perfectly make sense since the qunari already use this kind of technology wich grants them a huge advantage. Nice xD

I do plan to keep this model around in the files so submodders can have fun with ideas like this in the future. The Qunari are only able to use their Gaatlok powder for cannons, but if anyone was able to make gunpowder weapons based off of Gaatlok, it'd either be the Orlesians or the Dwarves.

How bout a unit like the one that explodes for Isengard in rise of mordor for the dwarves? In the descent dlc, they had a pot of explosive to cut the darkspawn off from the start.

The thing is the dwarves use Lyrium Powder for a lot of their explosions rather than actual Gaatlok, which is assumed to just be modern gunpowder. That being said, Lyrium Grenades would be funny asf

Description

Qunari Gaatlok technology and gunpowder was once a complete mystery to the people of Thedas, and securing blueprints, designs, and formulas related to Gaatlok and the weapons that could be created by it has become an utmost priority to Tevinter and Orlesian agents. On special orders from Empress Celene, a party of Orlais' finest bards and spies made a pact with the Siccari of the Tevinter Imperium, that the secrets of Gaatlok would be obtained at last and used against the Qunari to repulse their imminent invasion of all of Thedas. The alliance between Tevinter and Orlais was successful in obtaining enough of the powder, and scholars, scientists, and mages alike from Tevinter and Orlais spent weeks on end in the laboratories of the university of Val Royeaux, until at last, the powder was refined into a usable enough substance, which was then promptly used militarily, leading to Orlais' blacksmiths churning out a strange and unique new weapon known as an "Arquebus", able to fire balls of lead thousands of feet. As of 9:53 Dragon, the Orlesian army has armed a large number of it's troops with these new Gaatlok-based weapons, creating a new formation of the military known as "Arquebusiers. The guns these soldiers carry give them a huge advantage over any foe the armies of Orlais might meet.
