Call of The Zone is a standalone modification for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – Call of Pripyat that allows you to explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone – a desolate and highly contaminated region of Ukraine that has been abandoned and closed off for decades ever since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. What has been going on in this irradiated wasteland since then? There are no shortage of rumors and conspiracy theories, each more fantastic than the last. Rumors of mutated wildlife, brainwashed cults, secret experiments, and unexplainable paranormal events abound, as do promises of great riches and wildest dreams coming true for those who are daring or desperate enough to try to break through the cordon. You are about to find out for yourself what is true and what is yet undiscovered, and experience for yourself all the Zone has to offer... or to take from you.

Hello CotZ players,

After I take the medicine and start the quest to disable the Brain Scorcher (spawning in Pripyat at the truck), my minimap loses the npc counter and the npc dots from non leader npcs.
Has anybody had the same bug and does somebody know how to fix it?

DoctorX mentionned this in his minimap re-enabler addon (as one of Call of the Zone feature is the lack of minimap to get the player using the terrain to find his way), and it was the reason he removed that minimap re-enabler addon until he would manage to rework that in Call of the Zone.

As some other minimap addons are available, you may want to try one of them to see if the issue is still there.

Now sadly DoctorX passed away as you may know last month, so the issue may still exist :

A problem has been identified where the npc icons may stop showing on the mini-map at some point in the game. I've archived this addon for now until the problem is fixed. You can continue to use it if you wish, but be aware the colored dots for enemy, friendly, and dead npc's might disappear at some point in your playthrough.

I'll have this fixed in a future CoTZ patch, but in the meantime I highly encourage you to try playing without the mini-map. I think you'll find it is much more immersive to play without it, which is why I removed it from the base game in the first place. You don't realize how much you are just staring at the upper-left hand corner of your screen until the mini-map is no longer there.

Trust me, try it. You will rage, you will swear at me, you will say this is stupid and you will get lost. Just give it 48 hours. After two days of learning to play without it, you will get used to it, and you will understand why I removed it from the game, and you will never go back. It is much more fun playing without it.

Not saying this because I'm trying to avoid fixing the problem, it will be fixed. Just offering this as a good opportunity to take off the training wheels.

Thank you Sanctuary for the info!

I have tried two addons that enable the minimap but both don't seem to fix the problem.

Yep I heard it, very sad news that he passed away, DoctorX meant so much for CotZ and for good addons for CoC. He did a good job and such a shame we lost this talented person.

Maybe at some point someone makes an addon to fix this issue.

Has anyone found a solution to this? It is not gamebreaking, but it is easier to see the corpses as grey dots, plus the PDA counter on the NPCs nearby...

>>my minimap loses the npc counter and the npc dots from non leader npcs.<<

I just stumbled upon this thread because I had the same question posted elsewhere and spent some days in trying to figure it out

I see here that DOC looked into it and ultimately just turned off minimap so it became a non issue

I noticed the problem with the mini map after an inventory is removed event, which is mugging or another event that can occur ingame (probably taking that medicine triggered an inventory removal event)

Trying an edited minimap of my own that has no counter and no dead body/friendly dots to begin with. Its annoying not to know if up against one Stalker or 12, or if there is still a last enemy about before going looting; and to find that guy who dropped out of sight under a bush dead, but it seems to be working otherwise to help track down quest objects etc.
