Call of The Zone is a standalone modification for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – Call of Pripyat that allows you to explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone – a desolate and highly contaminated region of Ukraine that has been abandoned and closed off for decades ever since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. What has been going on in this irradiated wasteland since then? There are no shortage of rumors and conspiracy theories, each more fantastic than the last. Rumors of mutated wildlife, brainwashed cults, secret experiments, and unexplainable paranormal events abound, as do promises of great riches and wildest dreams coming true for those who are daring or desperate enough to try to break through the cordon. You are about to find out for yourself what is true and what is yet undiscovered, and experience for yourself all the Zone has to offer... or to take from you.

I don't know why this problem is happening to you, but as Call of the Zone is built on the Call of Chernobyl engine, let's try with the basic requirement.

- You need the DirectX June 2010 redist (it does not come with Window 10 for some reason despite several older games require it, even if window 10 comes with more modern directx, silly microsoft as usual).

And in their effort to purge their hosting servers, silly microsoft removed it this year from their website. Fortunately with archive.org you can still get it :

Web.archive.org

Install it.

Then you have OpenAL, many games that requires it install it, but it's possible you don't have it on your system, i'm not sure it's really needed for Call of the Zone, but it's always good to have anyways :

Openal.org

Install it (the window installer, not the SDK one).

Now try to launch Call of the Zone (make sure you have Call of the Zone 1.0 patched to 1.2, and have for now installed no addon)

If it does not run, try to move your

f:\s.t.a.l.k.e.r. - call of the zone\ into
C:\s.t.a.l.k.e.r. - call of the zone\

to see if by any chance the problem is coming from the engine unable to run in a drive that is not C:\

If it is still not working, let's try this :

Microsoft DirectPlay feature (that many old games used) is disabled by default in Window 10 for some reason, fortunately enabling it is very easy :

In cortana type "control panel" and click on the icon that appear of it
in the control pannel, click on "Programs" then on "enable / disable window features"

In the list, develop "Legacy Components" and just enable Direct Play listed under it, Ok and it will enable it. No more problem for old games.

I could run Call of Chernobyl just fine, Anomaly as well.

I have a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface though so if it's like the audio problem it might be that. Didnt install OpenAL when I tried last time, so I hope that works. I'm really hyped for this mod because of the way quests flow together it just seems so natural for a place where everything is based on barters and loose agreements.

Tried the directplay thing as well but it didn't work.

After restarting and shutting down the logitec gaming software and malwarebytes after boot up I managed to load into the menu and change settings, I then applied them and tried to restart but then it didn't want to start anymore either.

I can post new log
