A continuation/fork of the venerable Victoria 2 Divergences mod! A fork by yours truly. What makes it different? Besides fixes, it's a take on the DVG story with an emphasis on the sheer different-ness of the DVG world, and is developed with the thought process of just how much do we take for granted because it happened in our world? And an emphasis on the acculturation and ethnogenesis from a different world so far back, thereof. While most of this work is mine, I am absolutely and forever in debt to everyone who was kind enough to lend me things I needed help with, like graphics, flags, and even suggestions. Thank you, and I love you all. Being that this is mostly a one person job, updates and content will be sporadic. However, you are always welcome to message me here. I would have suggested PMing me on the PDX forums but I'm suspended for two years lel.

Fix the UI, bro.
Thus far *at least* the reforms screen, the entire trade screen and the trade icons and also the religion icons are all ******. Also there's this horrible bug which makes some major parts but not the entire UI this very ugly tone of blue, somehow. You know, replacing that tasteful dark red of vanilla. That one I managed to fix just by deleting the "interface" folder of the mod but the icons remain bugged.
Literally unplayable.

The entirety of this mod's UI is fixed if you just download Divergences of Dauxus from ModDB (or presumably the original, last official DVG release, but I only tested it with Div of Daux), and then delete and replace (as in, copy over after deleting) in this mod's general folder the folders "interface" and "gfx/interface" from Divergences of Dauxus. It fixes all the broken icons, trade screen AND the horrible blue UI.

I really don't care about lore and all those things, I really like that each game really seems something really different.
What really bothers me a bit are the new units, I played a game with Theran, I became persian but it is impossible to create a regular army and I only have mediocre infantry, I already have 10 technologies and I can only create that garbage, I think you should check that

Thanks for making me aware of this. It's a remnant bug from somewhere. Sometimes inventions don't fire. That said, that shouldn't be happening for actual base technology research. Can you tell me what the exact issue is? Can you build everything BUT regulars? Or can you ONLY build irregulars, basic cavalry, and infantry?

Lots of problems with overall balancing and controversial decisions...

Russia is a mess. In og DiV they are quite challenging to make a functioning empire, because the russian culture pop is low. The Dauxus version makes it bad, because you lose 1/3 of the scarce russian pop, but this is another lever. I don't know why do we need more russian cultures and a stronger PLC.

The Teutons in Hungary is just a joke. The Teutons were expelled from Hungary in 1224, way before the timeline of Divergences began and the hungarian kings never showed any willingnes to call them back.

Pontus is not even in the right place, not to mention another question: WHY!?

India is just a mess, i don't know what was the problem with the Mughal Empire... And from everyone else, why Rajastan rules India? It's a friggin' desert with a few population centers, contested by neighbouring stronger kingdoms, like Delhi or Gujarat.

And many other smaller things, but still important... Just as Dauxus said: Redditor tier ********.

But there are a few interesting things i like. The chinese colony in Kenya is neat, and the chance to unite the british and scandinavian kingdoms is another cool idea.

I'm sorry you feel this way - I haven't had time to yet write an article or discussion of WHY I made changes, let alone what, or the path forward. But to answer your question:

* The Russian cultured pops are very strong in base DVG, for the most part unchanged what they were in base. So I don't know how you could say they have lower pops. They are just split over multiple states. As for WHY, splitting up the Russian culture was something we back when base DVG was being developed had planned. There is simply no way with the events having gone the way they did, that Russian culture remains the same culture - the centralization of Russian culture was something that took a very long time OTL, and because of conscious efforts by the Russian state (similar to France, which did all it could to wipe out the separate cultures of France). Russia is meant to be hard in DVG, it's not supposed to be a cakewalk, always was.

* Again, my fault from not explaining, but the Teutonic Knights are back in Transylvania only recently from the game start period, after they lost their war with the HRE (under Bohemia), and a PLC which had elected a Jagellion, same dynasty as the Emperor. That's why the new German pops are mostly soldiers in Transylvania.

* Pontus was centered in Trebizond, i.e. Trabzon province and that state. I haven't modified the states's borders yet, so having it stretch into the Safavids for now would be dumb. As for why, it's another rebelling part of the Ottoman Empire (this is basic DVG, it's been in civil war for decades). Why do you think every other part is flying off?

* The Mughal Empire would never exist in the first place! The Mughal Empire is a remnant of the Timurids, and Babur's decision to finally invade into India was only due to circumstances that simply don't happen here. The "Mughal" like dynasty in DVG has always been in Shiraz, and as part of developing that, I renamed it the Mirzani Empire. Without Babur attacking the Delhi Sultunate, it still limps along. As for why Rajastan, that's simple - Mewar, under the Sisodas, were one of the dynasties most poised to rapidly conquer the chaotic North India at the time. Just a desert? Have you seen the historic populations of Rajastan? And if low populations are a barrier to conquering India, then how did Babur manage it? And weak? At the time, Mewar was one of the strongest states, Delhi was an emaciated skeleton of a state at the time.

* You'll have to describe these smaller things. Please tell me what redditor ******** you're talking about.

As for Scandinavia, the eventual idea is they can choose which direction to expand into. I'll try to elaborate some time soon hopefully.

Hahah. Oh, man.
I guess it needs some pointing out that I was in no way serious in my comment, that I've agreed with pretty much everything Evi's done in Russia and North-Eastern Europe in general (as well as the stuff he has planned for it in the future) and that I would in no way ever seriously accuse him of being Redditor-like. I specifically chose that word because of its' absurdity.

Also, don't play my "mod", play his. I uploaded my stuff just as a way to have it online and make fun of him. His fork has most of anything I did also included in it.

I don't know, man. I feel like most of the changes seem pretty nu-DVG redditor-tier. Divergences of Dauxus mod (https://www.moddb.com/mods/divergences-of-dauxus) stays truer to the vision the original creators of the world had.
In conclusion, 10/10, best DVG fork out there.
