The year is 2055, more than thirty years after the events of Zero Hour, Earth suffers a catastrophic collision with meteorites. The world is thrown into turmoil as large swathes of land are annihilated. Four factions, the ADF (Asian Democratic Federation), WEA (West European Alliance), WLF (World Liberation Front), and AC (American Confederacy) are at war for control of the remaining already harder to find resources as well as the preservation of their nations and geopolitical interests. Welcome to Deep Impact.
RDSG - The increased use of V3 and other heavy artillery systems, made even the formidable WEA defence lines rather vulnerable. Fortunately for WEA, the development of static energy barriers was already in development, and it wasn't long until this technology was largely used in combat. The massive shield generator is initially built as a vehicle. The shield generator, however, requires several special conditions in order to function. One of those being that it is required to deploy before activating. Once deployed, the shield generator is operational, and massive electromagnetic conductors start to direct energy fluxes into a continuous barrier that can immediately burn any incoming projectile, shell or missile alike. The downside to this very powerful support unit is that it requires a great deal of energy, and even more when deflecting incoming projectiles or missiles.
rapid deployment shield generator?
Very close guess. ;)
It stands for Rapidly Deployable Shield Generator.

close enough i guess. were u inspired by nod's mobile firestorm geterator from TS:F?
mobile firestorm generator? There was no such thing, only a mobile stealth generator.
oh yeah... well i remembaer something being a mobil shield
Nope, I've never actually played any of the Tib Sun games.
This was one of the first units designed and created for EC, a little over 1 year ago.

yea cnc forcefield
So, can we destroy this thing???
How???
with bullets maybe. kill the pilot!
Maksud lo kaya Jarmen Kell, gtu???
Kyny ngga deh...
(Do you mean like Jarmen Kell???
I don't think so...)
yeah with bullets :P Or just stroll inside the shield
Or overwhelm the power by shooting loads of missiles at it...
So we can "destroy" the shield by firing missiles rapidly to it???
Does it have unique animations when the shield is "destroyed"???
Not that way. The shield takes more power as it defclects each missile. If you shoot loots of loots of missiles at it it will just drain to much power from the player power output. As for the second question ... you know the rutine ... wait and see :P .
Oh, yeah, i got it...
Good theory, team!!!
i wonder what would happen if a superweapon hit its shield
hmmm i have a idea for the shield destruction animation, or rather, the effects. maybe you could make use of the existing ZH EMP-bomb's animation and effects, you know, the expanding blob of electricity and the effect is it disables nearby vehicles and itself.... hope you like my idea... ;)
I think they have far more interesting destruction animation effects than ZH EMP bomb animation effects...
Current death animations are still work in progress. We haven't yet decided on many things, and even those we have decided on might change. In a way i kind of like this ideea so i suggest you go on to our forum and post in in the suggestions. However keep in mind we also have something new planed for WEA in terms of death mechanics so the emp effect will probably not be an option.
how does he shoot????it realese nuke???
A nuke from a mobile shield generator? Likely not my friend.
Er it doesn't shoot a nuke.
It's purpose is to enemy block projectiles such as missiles and shells and stop them hitting your units/buildings.

hope they vabe better effects than ea period!
Don't worry we'll do our best. :P
Some of EA's FX were quite good, but some were lacking.
We're lucky enough to have several talented particle FX people on the team.
Pirate is probably our most experienced FX guy but Talus and Anubis are rapidly learning.
I'm actually surprised that we haven't revealed the RDSG FX yet. We will though, in time. :P
- Sam
it looks like Athena cannon from RA3 but still pretty good
The best thing about this. is it looks like if it was real that the guys inside would get cooked from the heat... lol
Heh, I'll admit we didn't consider how hot it would be inside the vehicle, based on it's design. :P
We finally revealed a screenshot of the RDSG's shield in action: Moddb.com
It looks better in motion, but that shows you the basic idea.

that's why there's air conditioning, man
seen something like this in contra that is simalr.
i said that not in a bad way
nice!! like a chrono tank to me.
