After completion of the SOL Knossos gate the GTVA sends a small recon fleet to investigate. Upon exiting subspace they realize nothing is familiar. With no way to return they begin to colonize. The native factions, TEC, Advent and Vasari take notice of the intrusion and some believe they should be removed. The GTVA was not prepared for this eventuality and sent older Great War era vessels, and in order to survive they must scramble to construct the more advanced vessels from home. However a old foe may be lurking in the shadows.

Facing Vasudan incursions, the Leviathan cruiser was developed to help defend Terran assets. Simply put, the older Fenris is too fragile to serve well in long engagements or defensive actions. The Leviathan takes the Fenris design and roughly quadruples its armor, but lowering the overall speed of the ship. At 10 m/s, it is possibly the slowest ship in the series, even slower than destroyers.

The Great War version of the ship had the same 8 blob turrets and missile turret as the Fenris. These turrets cover pretty much any angle and make it a difficult target to approach.

The 2nd Great War saw the inclusion of beam weaponry. The turret under the nose is a (very long cooldown) direct fire anti-warship beam. The 4 blob turrets on the engine were replaced with anti-fighter beams, more than any other cruiser.
