Contra is a freeware modification for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real-time strategy game and one of the first mods for this game. It adds many new units as well as numerous new upgrades, new general's powers and buildings. It also adds new sounds, maps, bug fixes, enhanced graphics, and other effects, as well as three new generals.
I am teasing you with one of the new multiplayer maps for Contra 008. It's called "The Lone Airfield" and it's for 5 players. I'm the creator of this map. Don't forget to write a comment.
Map name was changed to "Airport In Trouble".
Doesn't seem that 'lonely'.
Yes, because there is a battle there, but the "city" is far away from the real world.
Navy?
Amphibious units + bridges.
nice map, hope AI will be challenging on this!
P.S.
finally contra gets better water texture ^_^
MAAAAAAAAAAAAA the contra mod is teasing me
with who you were playing
AI (bots).
thanks for the answer
Reminds me of the map "vinlandsaga" from age of mythology, everyone starts on their own tiny island but move to the mainland for more resources. It's one of my favorite maps so a map like this is going to be awesome
Edit: do the players start in the islands on the outside, or the middle?
The players start from the circles, close to the middle. The pointed area is between two circles. The players move to the sandy islands (at the ends of the map) for more resources. I might move the starting positions to the islands, but I will think about it. That was a good idea.
With only a single bridge to the centre, if a player's main base is on the island the AI will probably end up with lots of units stuck on its own island and cause lag.
Looks interesting on minimap. I'd like to see the middle... Is there any tech building?
Yes, there is tech buildings and supplies.
seems interesting, is your base on the edge or more near the middle?
Bases start from near the middle. There is extra supplies on the edge islands. I may exchange them, but I'm not sure right now.
Great map, leave it as it is. The small islands are like "colonies", which has its very own strategic beauty.
First, you decide when to send some dozers/workers and start developing them (normally ASAP, but I suppose that won't be easy on low initial funds and atleast two hostile neighbors).
Second, getting AF earlier than others is a huge advantage- imagine clearing the enemy lines and then dropping a small force (e.g, two dozers and some infantry) to seize your enemy's island. I suppose until Rank 3 your enemies won't have much resources to bunker up their colony, so taking it will be relatively easy.
Third,...
it's looking just like an RA3 map..are you copying?
No. I don't play Red Alert 3. How can I copy something I never saw?
