Because they have medical training to get to that position, and to do so you have to visit university for a good few years, thus your already a 'geek' or you likely turn into one. Doctors are usually nerdy looking. :D
haha you don't HAVE to have past medical experience,or come from a university. they teach you all you need to know at tech school, but its one of the longer tech schools.
Same deal with the corpsmen, although probably an M16A4 nowadays. Although, everyone having a grenade launcher seems to be a trend in most Cold War games now. I'm guessing this is because the M16A2 and A1 models had to have the GL built into the rifle, so maybe they thought it better to give everyone one, just in case the Grenadier of the squad went down.
The toubibs in Battlefield 2 have M16 rifles without Grenade or FlashBang launcher and they don't have shotguns
in call of duty 4 i'm not sure
But let forget these details and let us be more optimist
this is a very hard work and one should not criticize
I've allways wondered why the meds allways carrys glasses :P

So, why does a medic need a grenade launcher?
They don't most medics in the U.S. Army carry plain M16's. As for Navy Corpsmen, I don't know.
