This mod is a continuation of the amazing project made by Gabriel Gorgutz for Retribution, the mod provides a much more intense and fluff-accurate feel to the gameplay in Dawn of War: Retribution as well as new units, new army painter schemes, new maps and various new gameplay elements which spice up the whole experience.

The mod does still suffer from some balancing issues, so feedback will go a long way to improving any issues, but the mod is still very much playable as a lot of it is built on Gabriel's fantastic design with the original project, creating a mod that isn't necessarily 100% balanced but provides a much more enjoyable 40k experience, without going to the extremes of other mods. For now, I can be reached through the forum here, discord or via ModDB PM.

In addition, I am actively looking for people capable of making models for Retribution, specifically ones that fit the existing art-style of the units in-game, I will be implementing unique armour skins for every single chapter/warband/craftworld/etc including Exorcists eventually as well as potentially, more commanders and may be reworking several races to add sub-commanders, such as Black Templars who will all be immune to suppression and carry a greater variety of melee weapons.

Lastly, I hope you enjoy the mod. This mod is absolutely phenomenal and one I have greatly enjoyed over the years playing Dawn of War II: Retribution, I've done my best to keep the original idea intact while fixing many of the issues the mod had so hopefully, if you've played Codex before, you'll feel right at home.

Codex Edition v1.1 is currently uploading and should be available shortly, I've removed previous versions of the mod for the sake of brevity and ease of access to the mod but have included information on how to update if you had an old build - patch notes are available on the download page and included in the download, but more importantly, I want to try and organize the community for this mod a little bit better, rather than being disorganized and limited to groups of friends, rather isolated.

To this end, I've now setup a steam group which can be found here: Steamcommunity.com which currently sits at a dozen members and I hope to see more of you there. My aims are to use this steam group for balance discussions, general discussion relating to the mod and to socialize with others who enjoy the mod, as well as serving as a place to organize community events. I'll be looking into getting regular play sessions up for those interested and generally organize everyone to have as many people as possible playing Codex.

Secondly, we've got a community discord which can be found here: Discord.gg

I've mentioned this before, but I figured it would be more relevant to an announcement relating to the new update. This discord is for a similar purpose as the above but more real time. You can get in touch with me easily through this discord as well as organize play sessions and discuss in another medium, this is mostly as some people prefer discord to steam and vice versa. When you do join the discord though, please mention in Introductions that you are here for Codex Edition - this allows the staff on the server to tag you appropriately, so you can access the appropriate channels for Codex/DoW II.

In campaign some character model parts are missing like their body parts appear invisible.I hope you fix this.

Unfortunately the mod creator has abandoned the mod inexplicably. Also while you can play the campaign, the mod technically doesn't support it.

Hey guys! I think I found out why there is an issue with IG selection. For me it was also crashing during switch to IG. Then I found out that in mod there are only 2 heroes for IG. I loaded game without mods and in lobby switched to IG. It looked like game remembers your last selection and it was 3rd IG hero. I switched it for 2nd and exited. Then after loading the mod I was able to switch to IG and guess what, 2nd hero was selected!

When I try to choose Imperial guard in the race selection it crashes and I have made sure I have no other mods installed I think its from the Tau. This really hurts because I only play guard

Hi,

I am also having a similar issue to other people with the Imperial Guard, whenever i try to choose them from the drop down menu in multiplayer game it instantly crashes to desktop.
