STORY

As science trumped religion and textbooks replaced scripture, the world fell into a vulnerable blackness that opened up the gates to the Netherworld. With their spiritual defenses down, the forces of Hell erupted through the Dimensional Rift and tore the world asunder. Its heinous minions ravaged cities, feasting upon the souls of those mortal in nature. It was only then, when humankind was at its lowest, that the doctrine of Zephyr was acknowledged once again. With nothing left but the faith they had once abandoned for something simpler, more concrete and supported by data, humans turned their attention Heavenward in hopes that their maker would absolve their transgressions. They asked forgiveness, for numbers and facts couldn’t save a civilization from extinction – only Zephyr could do that now.

As years turned to decades, and humankind's fight against the Netherworld waged on, soldiers of The Church were bread for war. Elite Special Forces teams were established by The Church, which now had operational chapters in the few remaining cities that stood amidst the backdrop of chaos. These expertly trained soldiers were to be part of a brotherhood bound by blood, steel, and righteous creed; these soldiers were known as SAINT.

Tasked with the mission of destroying wicked artifacts that held the power to close The Dimensional Rift, SAINT’s goal was both simple and insurmountable; infiltrate scouted locations, and destroy the damnable relics. But with Reapers at every turn, only the best would be able to save the planet from annihilation. Only the best would be able to make it out alive. Only the best would be able to call themselves SAINT.

GAMEPLAY

With gameplay inspired by The Killing Floor and F.3.A.R.’s “F***ing Run” mode, and a style that mixes Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and Ghost in the Shell, Chapel Arms aims to put players in an immersive environment with intense, time attack-like, cooperative teamplay that utilizes a persistent leveling and class system. Players will earn experience points with each game they play in order to unlock new equipment and special abilities specific to one of four diverse classes. When games begin, players will be tasked with the mission of running from one end of a level to the other all while shooting as many enemies as possible. However, these heinous creatures are not the only obstacles in the player's way; time is of the essence as each map contains a level-exclusive timer that constantly counts down to the players' deaths should take too long to complete the stage.

While CA is team-based, allowing for up to four players to take on hideous minions of baddies, at the end of each round players' scores will be displayed and ranked in relation to the rest of their partners’. Factoring in kills, assists, shots fired, etc., players will be given a grade of A, B, C, D, or F. The concept (and hope) is that this "grading system" will not only yield absolute bragging rights, but also promote a sense of inner-competition amongst the team. Thus, with this hybrid blend of competitive and cooperative play, along with the game’s leveling system, and frantic gameplay, Chapel Arms will undoubtedly keep players coming back for more.

Why is the theme 'anime' if it's being developed for half life 2, short of a total conversion with stylized graphics?

Well this looks... Absolutly amazing. Seems like a lot of efforts as been put in the story, and the gameplay sounds really promising.

I'm tracking this for sure, wish you the best of luck with the mod!
