Description

This addon does three things. Firstly, it enables Fast-travel (which is disabled by default in CoC), secondly it adds a lot more available points to fast-travel to, and it also lets you choose whether you want to unlock the fast travel points by first visiting them, or have them all unlocked from the beginning.

How do you install this?
I already made a plugins folder with faction_fast_travel.ltx in it and set the setting to enabled since 1.4.16 disabled it, do I delete the folder or file or what if I want this add On?

Great job btw :)

Simply replace your current faction_fast_travel.ltx with the one you get from this addon. (Although I do suggest you also keep a backup of your current file in case you would wish to switch back in the future.)

Ok thx, it all works, but just a question, I see all the places for the fast travel locations in the image, but some of them don't appear even though I explored them. (Just walked through them). I did reload my save and all that, but they don't appear, like the clear sky fishing base in the water doesn't appear. And the bandit camp all the way up to the north west doesn't appear. Did I do something wrong? Or is it a bug?
It's alright if they don't work I got fast travel locations for most of the whole map.
Ty alot

Thank you for your feedback.

I did some further testing regarding when the fast-travel icon appears and not. It seems the icon only appears for the location in which you are currently standing when the save is loaded. Unlike what I previously thought, simply walking through a location and reloading the save somewhere else does not work.

This is likely a bug in CoCs fast-travel system, which this mod does not change at all, it only adds more locations to the list of fast-travel points.

Ok, neat! I'm fine with that. I'll do quick saves and load them back in. Thanks a lot! Good job
I think that is fair so people can explore and travel :)

It is not working for me. Do I put the files in the applicable folders that already exist? (the one in the plug in folder from the mod, into the gamedata-config-plugin folder that already exists?? Or do I start a second plug in folder.

I put the files in the folders that already exist and there is nothing different in the options menu not in the game in the PDU??

I recommend you extract the zip-file and just copy the entire gamedata-folder to where you installed Call of Chernobyl. That way all files, folders and subfolders in "gamedata" needed for this mod will be included and be correctly named.

For example, "factions_quick_travel.ltx" should be located in "plugins", not "plugin".

Also make sure you have the latest version of CoC. Either 1.4.22 or 1.5r6, otherwise i cannot guarantee the addon will work properly.

It's way better now. But I cannot see any green house like icons in some locations. I can't see them in Dead City, Limansk, Hospital, NPP, Pripyat plaza, Pripyat Outskirts, Generators. I haven't been there yet. Should I explore the locations first to make the icons appeared ? Btw I changed preventing fast travel when overloaded and when enemy is nearby. So now what prevents me from fast travel is just PSI storm and Emmisions. I like it better now.

You need to visit the location in order for the fast-travel icon to appear.

Also, for some reason, the fast-travel icon does not seem to appear unless you reload a save at every location you wish the icon to appear for. This is likely a bug in CoCs fast-travel system, which this mod does not change at all, it only adds more locations to the list of fast-travel points.

Btw I think someone could include vehicle driving and flying helicopter option to Call of Chernobyl mod. I always play CoC in debug mod. There is option to drive a car or fly over the ground. It would be awesome to have this options in official CoC mod.

Thank you for that, I managed to do something for my Loner playthrough with remains of Warfare addon (to get smart_terrain locations) but this one seems to work better.
And it confirm my suspicion about activations of these green points, but that's not something serious.

Hey. I installed this, the green fast travel icons are appeared in my PDA, but when i right click on them nothing happens. I got the same problem if i dont use this mod and i enable the fast travel. The icons there but if i click on them nothing happening. I need to enable debug mode or something additionally or one of the mods screw up something? Im sure i copied everything in the right place

I use these mods:

STCoP Weapon Pack + v4 patch
Outfit Addon 1.4.1
DoctorX Dynamic Questlines 1.16.17
Smurths Dynamic HUD 3.1.5
and this mod

Try to zoom into that green house like icon in your PDA as much as posssible and keep clicking right mouse button while moving your cursor over the icon. It looks like a single little point in the icon is active.

check if you have "fast_travel.script" file in "gamedata\scripts\" folder. And also check if you have "faction_quick_travel.ltx" file in "gamedata\configs\plugins\" folder.

Okay at least i figured it out. The thing is Smurth's Dynamic Hud causing problems with the fast travel somehow, exactly its own modified xrGame.dll file. If i using the one what is inside the Smurth's addon the Fast Travel option is not appear when you right click on any travel location. If i change the file to the regular one what is coming with the 1.4.16 patch its working again witohut porblems. I dont know its a must have file for the Smurths addon, but i report it for the mod author too. I think it needs to be updated for the latest patch

Since many (Including myself) were having problems with getting the fast-travel icons to appear on the map I have now updated the addon to "version 2".

Version 2 automatically makes all fast-travel points available from the start. With the new version you no longer need to manually visit and reload a save at each location in order to unlock the fast-travel icon.

Works properly for me with OWR3 v5 and other few minor mods.
This is a great mod, you can avoid the long and boring travels when nothing happens, especially in Darkscape. Or you can easily return back if you forgot something.

Problem is, I still can't click on any... Right-clicking doesn't make anything pop up.

What do I do?

You might have to zoom in a bit for the click to properly register.

Are you using any other mods? For example an old version of Smurths dynamic hud causes a problem just like this.

Well I checked my SDH version like you said, and I actually was a version behind, but only on 3.1.5.7 compared to 3.1.6.7. Updating that didn't seem to change anything, I still have the issue.

I'm also using the STCoP +OA patch for it, as I have both of those, if that matters.

On top of that I'm using Infinite Companions, Faction Relations, and More Mutants, but I don't see how any of those would affect it.

Do not use the xrGame.dll file that comes with Smurth. Use the 1.4.16 CoC one instead. That should fix it (according to the comments regarding this issue on the Smurth addon page).

Plz Help; i am NOT new to modding / installing mods with the stalker series but this gives me a headache -.-

I simply copy paste the mod files in my gamedata folder in the specific path gamedata/scripts --> fasttravel.ltx

and

gamedata/configs/plugins --> faction_quick_travel.ltx

i get an error report when loading my last safegame telling me the Following:

FATAL Error
Expression:g_ui Spot.xml --> navigate to node (path_base 0)
Function:CMap Location:: Load Spot
File:map_location.cpp
Line: 102
Description: XML node not found in file map_spots.xml
Arguments:fast_travel

below are some more information saying:

stack trace: xrCOre XrDebug xrGame.dll and some other files are involved....any help ?

I Run the 1.4.16 install with AO3 (v.4) and some minor addons (weapon dmg, trades buy broken weapons, Suit addon, loot money, dynamic factions - thats it)

It should not be "fasttravel.ltx", it should be "fast_travel.script".

Other than that Im afraid I have not able to get anything out of the error report, I haven't even managed to find the file "map_location.cpp" in the CoC database... sorry.

It sounds very unlikely that any other addon would conflict with this addon, but I guess you could try and run this addon alone and see if it still crashes?

You don't need to have any additional files in the gamadata-folder. There are other files that control the fast-travel system, but those are not modified by this addon (so the vanilla ones already in the CoC database will do the job).

The modified files do the following:
- faction_quick_travel.ltx adds more locations to the list of fast-travel locations.
- fast_travel.script makes all locations available from the start.

hunter07029189

well...if the 2 files ADD fast travel locations and make them available from the start....it needs some file which activate fast travel at all (with less locations of course)...

so which would these files for activating fast travel in general (vanilla) be ?

because without these 2 files i DONT have fast travel at all...or should the FT option be enabled with my vanilla 1.4.16 ????

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes

The two files are built into CoC by default, all I have done is modified them.

The activation of fast-travel is done in faction_quick_travel.ltx, on line 2 there is a "enable = false/true" variable. The CoC default file is set to "false", the one in this mod to "true".

After that follows a list of available fast-travel location for each factions, the list in the modded file has a lot more locations.

The fast_travel.script file is the one that adds the fast-travel locations to the map, both the CoC vanilla-file and the modded file does that. The only difference is that I (in the modded file) removed one if-statement that only added a location if it had previously been visited by the player, because this did not work well in vanilla CoC (many times the fast-travel marker was not added despite having visited the location).

Here you can download the two non-modified fast-travel files if you wish to try if they work better: Cloud.openmailbox.org

So, again funny stuff going on. If i copy the original files in the gamedata paths, the game runs without problem - but also without fasttravel option :D

If i copy paste your files, the game crashes. If i manually change the original files (enable = true), the game crashes as well, but brings me a different error report.....i guess i just continue on foot until an offical patch makes FT available in CoC :D

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue as hunter07029189. Recently downloaded CoC and running no mods. In fact, I had to create the gamedata\scripts folder.

If I take out all locations from config file the game loads but as soon as I add the first one back in, CTD with error box when trying to load a game in CoC.

Tried on both a new game and an existing save.

Thanks
