This is a pre-beta version, which I am using to test the new maps and how the new dialogue sequences will be introduced. The proper beta begins on the middle of March.

- Actual final boss battle is still not (but at least the placeholder battle works now with modern Brutal Doom versions, unlike the March 2018 Build)
- Soundtrack is still distributed separately to save filesize and requires edaymusic.wad

The main highlights of this version:
- The highway section after Industrial District and the boss battle with the gatekeeper have been split into their own individual levels (regular maps goes from Eday01 to Eday32, and secret maps from Eday40 to Eday42).
- Many new areas added in almost all maps.
- A special new secret area on Twisted Neighborhood.

The music wad does not work for me. All it does is play the Doom 2 Title Screen music over and over.

This small issue is related to the RC8 itself, but I haven't found that forum. It's the oldschool gloves and the marked cropping problem.

I was about to wait until finale release of extermination day (after finishing the maps until map 15 from starter pack) Now I seen BD21 RC8 released at the same day as the new pre release version of Exterminationday, so I though nevermind, lets try.

Now that I see that one of the most important things, the music is not working, (only if you accidentally start the Doom2 campaign from the menu and the hit the actual eday campagn) I should probably just wait until it hits gold state.

But I have to admit I think the full release will be stunning coming from starter pack. The first 2 min of gameplay of this pre release it seems like got improved by a whole lot compared to starter pack (I know there was another pre release inbetween, but didn't try it despite having downloaded it)

Waiting for gold release.

The issue with the music file appears to be that it contains the wrong files. I've opened both Edaymusic.wad and edaymusicdec09.wad in Slade to compare them. Edaymusic.wad contains files with Doom 2's music filenames, such as D_RUNNIN, D_ADRIAN, D_STALKS, etc. However, the older edaymusicdec09.wad contains filenames EDMU01, EDMU02, EDMU03, etc. When looking at the mapinfo file in the EdayPreBetaX.pk3, it references the EDMU## filenames which are only present in the older music file (e.g. EDAY01 "Hangar" uses EDMU01).

Interestingly, there are no overlaps between the filenames of each wad, and the music in Edaymusic.wad does seem to be replacement music for Doom 2, and yet different to the same named tracks within the DoomMetalVol5.wad.

Sure, but cba comparing each file with the ones from edaymusicdec09.wad, just to find out which files are used for which map. We don't even know which files are supposed to be at what place. The music from the first map was already different in Hell on Earth starter pack. So guess just using edaymusicdec09.wad is fine for testing until Mark fixed it himself.

You cannot compare them anyway as it is completely different. The new Edaymusic.wad has less files, all named for the Doom 2 music filenames, and the tracks are new. The mapinfo in Extermination Day doesn't refer to those filenames at all. So it really appears that it contains the wrong files, not mixed up ones or with them renamed. So Edaymusic.wad appears to be a new replacement music pack for Doom 2, not for Extermination Day.

The tracks for Eday are supposed to be named EDMU, according to the Eday Dec 9 music wad file. However, the tracks inside the Edaymusic.wad file use the same lump names for Doom II. These should be changed, and eight tracks are also missing compared to the Dec 9 music file. Just minor issue, could be fixed very easily.EDayMusicProblem

The level looping bug that randir14 found happens on Bad Cargo, Red Light District, and Peak of the Gods.

I just found the level repeating bug too.

I have just finished Dead Cargo twice and got on the third loop before stopping. I would of like to see if the loop would break but for some strange unknown reason Gzdoom 3.7.2 isnt letting me cheat (no real biggy) but i cant just noclip to the end of the level and see if its a pera loop, or try level warp.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how to get around this bug?

The map repeating bug is an error in the mapinfo file. For instance, Dead Cargo (EDAY13) has the below mapinfo, showing that the next map is EDAY13, i.e. Dead Cargo itself, so completing the level will then restart it as it is the next map. Red Light District is the same (EDAY41 with next set to EDAY41) and Peak of the Gods is also the same (EDAY31 with next set to EDAY31).

Ive modified my copy of edaybeta so that the music works (Works both with v21 RC8 and Project Brutality 3.0 Beta - but that has other problems.....) and there is no level looping. I'm just wondering if I am aloud to upload it for other to download it. I dont want to step on Sergent Mark's feet.

here is my modified version of extermination day where i modified "nextmap" in 13rd map so instead of looping back into this level it moves us from eday13 (Dead Cargo) to eday14 (next map) but remember that its just loop fix, it doesnt fix music.

Edit: Fixed other maps too and made ending at wolfenstein (the last "normal" level will get you into secret ones and broken secret is fixed so it dont loop)

Oh what in the shit was error I just found. On the secret level, Hollywood Holocaust, I can't simply jump in to the window to get the the next secret level. When I noclip in there I found out there was just an Invisible wall blocking the entrance..... then MORE invisible walls blocking the portal to the next level!

I already feel dirty using noclip getting the revolver in Twisted Neighborhood!!! Dont make me Noclip into more places!
