The definitive gameplay enhancement mod for the GZDoom and Zandronum engines. Adds realistic gore, dismemberments, headshots, executions, lightning effects, particles, makes enemies smarter and harder, makes gun louder and beefier, and adds epic new boss battles.

Description

NOTE: This addon is for Project Brutality. Don't expect it to work with Brutal Doom. This addon doesn't work all alone and you need to load it AFTER Project Brutality to make it work. And if you are going to use this with UDV or Starter Pack, you need to load the addon after them, too.

what exactly besides sound does this change to improve PB?

The main file pretty much just does the sounds, etc, but the addon files that come with it add a few features, like an underbarrel noob tube for the DMR, the ability to find weapon upgrades in Combat Backpacks, some new powerups, and my personal favorite which is a rare "Metroid Prime-esque" reflection of your own face inside your helmet

+1 for the preview pic. I am working on a vast amount of improvements for PB, including removing Headshot/Legshot hit boxes all together and allowing ACS to calculated it instead (exponentially increasing performance in the process). I actually have time now to focus on what I want to, so expect a good update in the coming days.

Can't wait! Performance updates are always good. Hope to see some other neat features from the coming update.

Speaking of sound, you might have already read my comment earlier but dual-wielding carbines still uses the old sfx instead of the new one.

Performance updates are like meth for me: I'm still waiting for something that stops the huge framerate loss with "Dynamic visor damage on" (the setting that lets bullet holes/etc. appear and disappear). It's so bad it might as well be called Macro-stutter

Next time include the changes here because most won't download unless they know what it does.

You should increase aggressiveness and damage factor slightly of enemies in Hardcore mode and remove FASTMONSTERS. Since it ends up being more difficult than the next difficulty after it ie Superhuman.

This actually adds some sounds and about fixes:
- Some enemies don't give fatality bonus, I optimized them.
- Gave enemies name tags.
- Changed weapon name tags. For example, Railgun name tag says "Rail_Gun" snd I changed it as "Railgun". Some weapons were like this, too.

So, this addon is more like a sound pack. It doesn't really fix major bugs.

Under "High Expl." on your ammo counts (if you have UDV). It uses the same ammo as the break-action grenade launcher.

This is pretty good but it changes the sounds of the zombie grunts so how can I undo that? Just delete the zombieman.txt? Because deleting the zombieman sounds does not fix this.

You should just replace the sound files in your pk3 file with the same names and not via decorate so we can keep the fixes and choose the sounds or not.

Go to "Sounds > Monsters" and delete the "Zombies" folder.

Didn't work and no need to do that.

I edited the SNDINFO file and deleted all the monster sound references so now have working new menu, items, and weapons sounds.

I load this AFTER Project Brutality but before Fearrrific and its working beautifully with Blood Droplets, Nicewallblood and realgore.

I think you should just make the main mod and divide the SNDINFO file into separate pk3 files from the main assets for Doomguy, Marines, Monsters, Weapons + pickups and Menu sound definitions.

This way it can be customized and eventually used online without mismatched versions.

- Swapped difficulties for Hardcore and Superhuman.
- Refreshed difficulty messages.
- Changed armor picking sounds (Green one is same).

A couple questions I've been wanting to ask you guys.

First question is, why doesn't the code 'idkfa' work with Project Brutality or Brutal DooMv20, it's kind of annoying. Especially when you released this overhaul, I always need to find the guns even though I just want to hear what they sound like.

Second question is, have you guys thought about doing a hi-res texture pack on the enemies? I think that'd be a really neat thing to do. If there is already one, it'd be nice if you could point me in the right direction.

~Thanks for any kind of reply.

Err, do you know that you can type "give all" upon console to have all weapons and test them?

There are a few HD sprite packs but none of them are for Project Brutality.

Uh, no, I didn't know you could do that. I don't use the console all that much, because I like playing without it.

I like the new mecha impy sounds. Really good.

One thing I notice was that loading this mod after UDV disables the UDV menu so the user cannot adjust UDV settings. I'm guessing it has to the with your menu updates so can you release a patch or hotfix for this in the next release?

Probably better to release a separate pk3 file for those who will use UDV and keep it as is for those who don't use UDV with PB.

This may be little more than a sound pack rather than an entire overhaul, but its a damn fine sound mod at that. I also love all of the doom 3 sound effects that have been carried into the game.

Actually yes, I actully planed the addon name as "PB Sound Pack" originally, but due to a few minor things I've fixed, I set the addon name as "PB Overhaul Pack".

It writes in desctription already: "This addon is made to add lots of new things (mostly sounds), features and fixing some minor bugs."

Whenever I use Overhaul for PB I keep getting an unending list of console messages saying things like (P_startscript: unknown script: "zombiemangrenades")(P_startscript: unknown script: "ceilingclimbingimps")and such.

And then there is also the issue of enemies "flickering".

This is what I came across so far.

Issue is fixed(don't know how) but I redownloaded the December 1st PB version and the Overhaul WAD and it's working fine now.

Maybe it was an eff up from a previous download. No clue.
