UEF Experimental Point Defence name Thread - BrewLAN mod for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

This is a selection of name suggestions I've received. None of them personally stood out beyond the others to just 'be' what it should be called, so I thought I would see what the popular opinion of these is. I pre-culled the list of names that I didn't like, conflicted with existing names, or I thought would better suit other unit future units, so if one of your suggestions isn't on the list that's probably why. They are in no particular order.

Errm. Its just that Teh Pwnisher was obviously joke from me, given that Punisher is already your own Cybran T3 Point Defence Moddb.com

I think that Hailstorm or Hail-something is some cybran walker from FAF BlackOps:Unleashed..Aaah, thats Hailfire.

Annihilator is 4DC artillery.

Why not Catapult?

And if a joke name wins you have only yourself and everyone that votes for it to blame. I included it for the same reasons as Daddy and Perpetrator; it amused me.

I am not overly concerned with this for a number of reasons:

• 4DC named an Aeon unit Annihilator, and I don't think its a very 'Aeon' name.
• The UEF wouldn't care that an enemy faction had already used the name.
• I am not going to allow the design of other mods to affect the design of my mods, and I consider the name to be part of the design.
  • As an aside, if you want to police the names of units in mods you run, the BrewLAN translation documents provide a way to do that for BrewLAN units client side, which would not affect people you play with.
• This is cooler as a Total Annihilation reference than theirs.

I refuse to take the blame. We (almost) lack any warhammer40k reference

You misspelled it, its not Perpetrator, but Penetrator xD feels quite..vulgar.. Hmm,the worthy Maelstrom Cannon and Hyperion(not James Raynor Starcraft reference this time) seems to end up in a draw anyway. One will have to go to US LOC again(whatever that is xD), just like happened with

Nullifier/Stalwart/Bouncywallbig/Mr Bubbles :-)

To be fair, if enough people vote for teh pwnisher I will use it. I do polls when I don't know what I want and want something to influence my decision.

Oh my, I knew it. Artificialy verbatim google-translated. Tobuscus literal trailers....You should've not even bothered. No one should run non-english, probably with only exception of german. You've done just a pretty useless ungrateful unappreciated disservice. I would be willing to a do proper translation, but no one, including me would ever use it. If people want their own language Brewlan version, then tell them to do it for you.

Yeah, it exists because it can, not because there was a call for it; I wanted to support all the languages that the Steam version of FA supports. That's why the spreadsheet is colour coded the way it is; to make it easy to keep track of what was done by a human.

I would appreciate the translation if you actually feel like doing it. Its basically how the others got done; people either got frustrated with the google translations, and submitted them, or they asked me for things and I had them translate for me as a cost.

It's basically Cunningham's Law; people want to correct stuff more than they want to provide the information otherwise.

You don't need excel, google docs does it through a web app. I just need your gmail so I can give you editor access.
