Yeah, now no more MI-4 placeholder! As you can see they are very similar looking choppers, but they shared no parts and the Russian version was actually bigger. Also the Russians built theirs after the US had already deployed the H-19 in the Korean War.

Still, it is nice to finally have this workhorse in the mod, and it is now 100% authentic.

IDF? Yep IDF. I'm really glad that production is being sped up by the sharing of these assets. They're high quality and I can't wait to use it again in this mod!

You don't understand, IDF mod only had the Mi-4, which is what we use as a placeholder for this chopper. This is a brand NEW helicopter not in any other mods yet. General_Bradly just exported this over the past week. This is an American H-19, you are thinking of the extremely similar looking MI-4 which was made as a sort of Russian copy but they shared absolutely NO parts. ;)

You can even see IDF mod Mil Mi-4 chopper here. XD

It is ok though they look similar enough to the untrained eye. The Russian chopper was made as a response to the American one. But like I said, they share no parts internally or externally, and the Mil Mi-4 is actually a bigger chopper.

However, with that being said though, General_Bradly did say he would use this beautiful model in IDF eventually as the Israelis and Jordanians and even British used some variants of them.

Description

The Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw, (sold commercially under its Sikorsky model number, S-55) was a multi-purpose helicopter used by the United States Army and United States Air Force. It was also license-built by Westland Aircraft as the Westland Whirlwind in the United Kingdom.

The H-19 Chickasaw holds the distinction of being the US Army's first true transport helicopter and, as such, played an important role in the initial formulation of Army doctrine regarding air mobility and the battlefield employment of troop-carrying helicopters. The H-19 underwent live service tests in the hands of the 6th Transportation Company, during the Korean War beginning in 1951 as an unarmed transport helicopter. Undergoing tests such as medical evacuation, tactical control and frontline cargo support, the helicopter succeeded admirably in surpassing the capabilities of the H-5 Dragonfly which had been used throughout the war by the Army.

The U.S. Air Force ordered 50 H-19A's for rescue duties in 1951. These aircraft were the primary rescue and medical evacuation helicopters for the USAF during the Korean War. The Air Force continued to use the H-19 through the 1960s, ultimately acquiring 270 of the H-19B model.

For Battlefield: Korea, we will have 4 variants. 2 field modded versions(Army and Marines liveries) with the cargo bay door opened and sporting a m1919 .30 Caliber machine Gun to make it into an early gunship. The other 2 versions will be simply relegated to transport choppers with the doors closed.

General_Bradly is responsible for exporting this beautiful helicopter model and for coding it for us.
