This is a hybrid mod for Battlefield 2 that allows the maps from the now defunct BF2 Play for Free game to be played in singleplayer/COOP/Multiplayer with P4F weapons and expanded teams. Teams expand on the Russian vs US theme to include Special Forces, as well as Ukraine and US Marines, and Middle East Insurgents represented by ISIS faction. The P4F maps offer a faster style gameplay, with many of the maps having paratrooper spawns. The kits are customized to the team and the map with an attempt to align the weapons to the factions. The mod also uses material from POE2, AIX and BF2 booster packs to include Special Forces. The HUD has also been customized with a more P4F feel. The kits have also been changed to the base P4F style, but with more variety. Kits are unlocked when playing on a server and allow several options for the primary weapon.
The P4F map ports have selectable parachute spawn points which allow for players and bots to get to the action quicker. Don't forget to press the F9 parachute key!
In addition to the two new P4F (Basra/Garage and Trail/Mynamar) maps there are several brand new custom maps to add a some map variety, since the original P4F game only had two maps that were not ports of existing BF2 maps.
In addition to fully supported singleplayer on all maps, the mod includes many AI improvements.
INTENSE: If you see a map preview with the works 'INTENSE' at the bottom, it means that the bot intensity is ramped up by having the bots spawn directly into stationary weapons systems.
This is not a direct P4F port, but more of merging of the best of both games.
The only requirement is to have a copy of Battlefield 2

FAQ:
Q: Why is the mod so big?
A: We planned the mod to support the addition of map packs from the BF2 Booster packs and AIX.
Q: Why are there multiple kits of the same type, such as assault?
A: We had to make a compromise to support a variety of weapons for offline gameplay and multiplayer. Multiplayer allows for a large variety of primary weapon options for each kit. For offline play, different versions of the same kits are used to offer more weapon choices.
Q: Why not use the same 4 kit system from P4F?
A: We tested it but ran into issues with trying to make the game support both multiplayer and singleplayer. What we ended up doing was a compromise to support both game modes as explained in the previous answer. For instance, we found that some kit types are tied to enabling bots to use certain special handweapons such as medic kits. In this case only bots with a medic kit type will use the medic kit to heal or the paddles to revive. This is a game limitation issue that we could not resolve.
Q: What about using a weapon customization option, like the Alpha Project mod or Wookie Sniper mod?
A: We looked into it a variety of customization options, but it was too much work for a small development team. For Alpha project each weapon would have to renamed to match the format used for the mod and there needs to be model created for each possible configuration. For Wookie Sniper Mod, a kit has to be created for each possible weapon configuration. The work and testing involved was beyond what we could handle.
Q: How are the kits set up?
A: The kits are set up with the basic P4F kit model, but then adding extra unique variations to make use of all available kit slots in BF2. We also attempt to align the weapons to the different factions, as much as possible while maintaining game balance. The ISIS team has mostly Russian and Chinese weapons, but also some older models of US weapons captured from the Iraq Army.
Q: Why are not all the weapons animated/modeled in the same way?
A: We do not have a team animator and our weapon fix guy, and mod creater, BobtheDino, had to leave in the middle of the project due to real life issues. Our weapons are created by different animators and weapon modelers that made their weapons available for mod use. This is why there are inconsistencies with the different weapons.
Q: Is there a Rush mode?
A: We have looked into a Objective based game mode and we even found one to test with, but it was too buggy in singleplayer. Project reality has an objective mode that is similar to Rush mode from the original P4F game, but then this would need to become a Project Reality game to take advantage of that.
Q: Is Singleplayer supported on all maps?
A: Yes, this mod started out as a singelplayer focused mod. All maps are fully supported for singleplayer, with many AI improvements to standard BF2.
Q: What does the word ‘INTENSE’ mean on the map preview of Codename Crossfire.
A: We have ramped up the intensity of the bots by setting them to spawn directly into the machine gun positions throughout the map. We planned to test in more maps, but did not have the time.
Q: Are there any future plans?
A: We do not have any plans to add more content, however, if there is enough interest, we could add some new map packs.
Q: Permission to use stuff from this mod or to expand the mod?
A: As long as you give credit. If you want to expand or change this mod, please change the mod name, It could be just adding an X to the end of the mod name such as P4F_X. We just ask that you use a different name to avoid server conflicts and to give us credit for the work put into this project.
Q: How do I get a copy of Battlefield 2?
A: Since Battlefield 2 is long being sold by EA, the BF2 Revive team currently has it available for free.
Battlefield Play 4 Free (P4F) was a Pay to Play multiplayer only game similar to Battlefield 2 but with modified game mechanics that made it quicker to get back into the action, with a lot of customization options. During it’s heyday, it had a big following, but was shut down as interest started falling off, mostly due the lack of new content.
That is where the idea for this mod comes from – to create a BF2 mod with a lot of gameplay aspects from the P4F game. Unfortunately, the ability tree and soldier customization was not possible to port over, however, the maps and many of the weapons ported over very well. This is a hybrid mod for Battlefield 2 that allows the maps from the now defunct BF2 Play for Free game to be played in singleplayer/COOP/Multiplayer with P4F weapons and expanded teams to make the game more relevant. Teams expand on the Russian vs US theme to include Special Forces, as well as Ukraine and US Marines, and Middle East Insurgents represented by ISIS faction. Teams are balanced for gameplay, not for realism. The P4F maps offer a faster style gameplay, with many of the maps having paratrooper spawns. The mod also uses material from POE2, AIX and BF2 booster packs to include Special Forces. The HUD has also been customized with a more P4F feel.
Parachute spawns: The P4F map ports have selectable parachute spawn points which allow for players and bots to get to the action quicker. Don't forget to press the F9 parachute key!

This is not a direct P4F port, but more of merging of the best of both games.

Looks like this "mod" change hud of game?
Where is part 3?
I've recently got back into playing Battlefield 2 and have slowly been adding the better mods that are still available (AIX, EoD, FH2, Merc's etc. I've got around 700 maps in my vanilla levels folder alone, many of which would benefit from being added to your mod, especially most of Hayabusa's maps (he's created over 150), all of The Darks maps, including one that was never released which I have a copy of (called Pushing Beyond), also one of my favorite maps called Stalingrad by Rodolfo, (all the Stalingrad maps available online a have a corrupted 64 player map, which in my opinion is the best. Thankfully I have a working copy as I backed up most BF2 maps and mods when I was playing it regularly between 2005 to 2008. Also most of Jones and I am the Head Hunters maps plus lots more.
It would be brilliant if you could upload some map packs for this mod. If it was easy enough to code each map for your mod I'd be happy to help.

You think you could upload your map folder to say MEGA after zipping it up, I'd love to have all of those maps without having to download each one individually.
was the A.i also use costume kit like alpha project?.. and do the game crashes?..
This was the final planned release of the mod. This is a singleplayer focused mod, but it is playable on a server if you want to host one. Glad to hear you liked it.
First of all, great mod!!
Is there a way to reduce the size of the HUD elements, such as the minimap?
Or is there any add-on to make it HD that I am missing?
Thanks
I downloaded and installed all files, it didn't specify in the installer where to put the files so I screwed it up, but I manually placed all the files in the proper folder.
The mod crashed when I select any menu option after the login.
EDIT: Worked after a reinstall.
