Back to the Future: Hill Valley is a full conversion mod for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Back to the Future: Hill Valley will be based on the Back to the Future Trilogy, allowing the player to re-enact all the great moments from the films. While some parts of the story are stretched to make it more enjoyable, we are determined not to stray too far from the original story-line. The people behind this mod want the community to relive the movies and have as much fun in the process as possible. With the outstanding game play of the Sandbox hit, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, in combination with one of the best movies of all time, Back to the Future, this mod is sure to bring countless hours of fun to anybody who enjoyed the movies.

Some of the Features that will be in Back to the Future: Hill Valley are:

  • 5 different eras of Hill Valley: 1885, 1955, 1985, Alternative 1985, and 2015.
  • New Vehicles to correspond to the different times
  • New Peds to correspond to the different times
  • Spontaneous and Instant Time Travel
  • New effects and sounds to accompany the time travel sequences
  • Flying Hover mode for the Cars and Trains of the future.
  • Custom Radio Stations
  • Reenactments of scenes from the films.
  • A Remote Controlled Delorean
  • Doc's Time Train
There is also an SA version of the mod in the works here: Moddb.com

Greetings time travellers! Has it really been over two years since our last update? My god, has it been that long! Things have certainly changed around the world in that time! The mod has once again stagnated during this time, but we are now back in full swing and ready to show off progress on 0.2g.

Hold up, didn't we post already to say that 0.3 would be the next version of the mod?
Yes we did, however building an entire Hill Valley map from scratch is a painstaking and very time consuming process. While we have a basic landscape in game, it is very empty and we're sure players would soon become bored with driving and flying around a mostly empty map. As such, we have made the decision to stick with the Vice City map for the next release, with the sections of Hill Valley which we do have modelled merged as best they can be with Vice City.

Announcing Version 0.2g

The team have been hard at work making massive improvements to the in-game mechanics and effects - you could say that 0.2g will be the biggest leap forward for BTTF:HV since version 0.2d released all the way back in 2007!

So what have we got lined up? The short answer is plenty, the videos and images below are but a mere peek into what we have planned for 0.2g.

Revamped Exterior Effects - Featuring improved coil glows, plasma trails and vent boosters, along with functional running lights, brake lights, reverse lights, and turn signals!

All New Interior Effects - Featuring a fully animated interior with functional time circuit drive switch, time circuit display & keypad, plutonium gauges, flux capacitor, status indicator display (SID), digital speedometer, digital clock, compass and analogue dash instruments along with much more!

New/Updated Exterior Animations and Game Mechanics - Featuring:

We also have an all new flight/hover mechanics system developed, flying the DeLorean around Vice City has never been so good! We would encourage you to check out the live stream posted to our dev YouTube channel to see the new flight system in action.

Additionally, thanks to the new method of animating parts on vehicles, all animated vehicle parts (including all DeLorean variants, the Jules Verne Train, Rogers locomotive, Doc's GMC van, the 2015 Citroen taxi to name but a few) will now be completely lag free and will no longer show as a drastically different color/shade to the main vehicle!

In terms of timescale for a release, we still have many further improvements we would like to make, however we are aiming for release this summer.

Well, we'd better wrap this post up now as it is a little longer than initially planned.

Stay tuned for more updates, we'll see you all in the future!

I hope this comment gets approved:

Now that there is a reverse Enginereed version of Vice City Engine (reVC based on librw) github.com/GTAmodding/re3/tree/miami , will be there a released compatible with it? Or at least a guide on how to make it work on it?

I'm sure linux bttf and GTA's fans will for sure love it, and beign able to play the game without loading screen between the islands sounds great.

Have a good one!

It may be possible for an older version of the mod (0.2e and prior), however for all versions from 0.2f onwards there are dependencies required for the mod which only run under Windows. Aside from that I see Take Two Interactive went after reVC and had them taken down.
