I think it looks good. However, I think the tracked version would make more sense for the non-upgraded unit as repulsorlift technology is considered more evolved. This is illustrated in sources like X-Wing: Starfighters of Adumar where wheeled/tracked ground vehicles are seen as out of date. For the texture I think it could benefit from a nice uniform red paint job, or at least a red starbird to make it stand out more.

All in all great looking model, hope I wasn't too critical.

Not at all! I encourage everyone to leave comments, even if they may seem harsh at first glance. I do not take constructive criticism personally as I feel every opinion that is taken into consideration will only make the mod better!

As far as having the treaded tanks be the initial level, I do see the validity in that treaded vehicles are definitely "inferior" technology. It is strange however that the MPTL and T4B are the heaviest units of the Alliance/NR and they are both tracked. Repulsorlift technology would definitely be a very wanted modification by the Alliance to more play into their hit and run strategies.

Maybe instead, the tracked T3B will be the initial model, without shields but heavier armor. Then the upgrade has added shields, more weapons, but is more fragile? It would then be more suited for devastating hit and run strikes.

I will try this both ways in game and see which works out better. Once again thanks for the comments (both you and umad41)

Another part of our logic was based on the Rebel military doctrine that they focused on hit-and-run tactics thus needing agile repulsor-driven vehicles, but as the Alliance gained more and more support, they shifted more on fighting the Empire head-on thus needing more heavy vehicles.

We can think with tracks the vehicle:
a) had more space for equipment (ammo, supplies, power); and
b) more power dedicated to weapons.

I like it, however I agree with Delta that the Repulsorlift/Track level should be swapped. Repulsorlift tech opens up several tactical avenues and would be considered as an upgrade in lore. Anyways, that is really good, keep it up!

direct connection can be better when the environment calls for it. that and since tracks are lower tech, they're probably easier to deal with in terms of maintenance. tracked vehicles are limited in speed as well, so mounting heavy armor or weaponry isn't as big of a detriment

Description

Before I get into this new unit I want to share a overarching goal for the next version. One of my biggest gripes with the current state of land units is the way our upgraded units are handled. I really like the concept of having more advanced versions of a unit, but on the battlefield it is really hard to quickly know if you are using or fighting an upgraded unit or not.

With that in mind, here is the upgraded T3B Tank created by Sly. There has always been a lore discrepancy between the T3B being a hovertank or a treaded tank. My solution to this peculiar problem is simple: ¿Por qué no los dos? Since our mod had the hovertank version, I felt that a good way to visually show the upgrade was to put treads on the upgraded version, and here's why:

1. It shows off the Rebel ground tanks evolution from being modified speeders, to fully armored tread tanks such as the NR T4B.
2. The treads add more armor to the tank, therefore it makes sense that this version is heavier than the previous in terms of armor.
3. You can clearly tell on the battlefield if you are facing upgraded or non upgraded t3bs
4. It provides a unique drawback to using the upgraded tank, as it is less nimble and can no longer use water routes to flank enemies.

An additional change to both t3bs is attaching the missle pod to the turret in order for the tank to be able to fire its rockets at all times. Before it could get stuck in a state of not firing at its target due to the alamo engines limitations of not rotating turreted tanks towards their target.

This model is still a work in progress and we would love to hear feedback on its current art style, and what we could add/change to make it look even better.
