So we want to bring Team Fortress to AvP2. It shouldn't be too difficult, all of the weapons we need are already in AvP2, and configuring armor and run speeds and whatnot isn't too hard. What we need, however, is input on how this should go down, and modders to make the more difficult things happen, like possibly adding new weapons and more importantly, new GAME MODES, like Capture the Flag or Assault, things that teams do that aren't Team Deathmatch. However, this is AvP2 Fortress, so everything should have an AvP2 twist to it. Like Preds and Aliens on the teams realistically, but not whorishly. No Predator rocket-launcher guys, for example, but a Predator as the Spy, a class that's supposed to cloak and primarily use a knife anyway. -- SMID

Post news Report RSS AvP2 Fortress: bringing bug fixes and a sneak preview

This week's build consists mainly in bug fixes; however, the media update allows a sneak peek to "Gunnison County Forest".

Posted by on

With the main features of the mod already coded in, this 7th build focused in cleaning two bugs discovered by the [xXx] anti-clan:

  1. when killing an enemy, the next map would get loaded.
  2. the server options for a given game type were not saved in their section; also, the default values did not correspon to their latest values, saved from previous matches.

Although all major game modes are in, the mod remains in alpha state, since several configurations need changes (weapon sets for example).
Meanwhile, Windebieste (he's the team member specialized in mapping) is working on several maps. One of them get's promoted today: the Gunnison County forest.

If you hear this name for the first time, Gunnison was the small town that was the battlefield in AvP Requiem. The map Windebieste is working on is targeted for the Assault game mode and it will place you in a similar kind of environment:

But until the map is available, you can download the 7th build, and enjoy the game.

Indeed! Windebieste knows how to find the best angles to promote his maps. This map will place the teams in the same kind of environments where Wolf and the aliens fought in AvP Requiem.

It's nice seeing a map based on the latest movie. :D Requiem wasn't the best movie ever, but it was better than the first.

Well, we're not trying to support or judge any of the movies; Windebieste is trying to shoot two birds with one stone: buld an Assault map for AvP2 Fortress, and build the forrest settings needed for a mod based on AvP R.
