After a year of no new releases and not much information from me, I finally released a downloadable version of the mod. As many of you have noticed, I deleted the alpha version that was available in 2016. Since then, I have taken slightly different approach with the mod. I've noticed many mistakes in the alpha version. The worst one was not focusing on the lore very much. I changed a lot of textures into something I thought would be better looking and more realistic but I noticed that it does not fit the game atmosphere at all. I added a lot of ugly huge bricks to the city walls and ugly looking floor. It was bad, I admit it. There is even an entire article on reddit where people judge my mod. The reception was bad. So I examined all the textures again and corrected all the flaws I could, remaking the textures from the previously released version again. That's why I removed the downloadable alpha version, so people would no longer see it and this is the reason that it took such a long time to release the next version. In version 2.0 I am confident that it is better and more playable, more enjoyable. I hope you will share my optimism. I already have an entire plan in my head how I want to release the versions here is the list of the future releases:

Version 3: The whole update will focus on draw distance. I will try to make good looking distant textures. I would call it a beta version.

Version 4: It will focus on remaking the interiors like crypts, caves etc. Also foliage and environment will be improved.

Version 5: I would call it a finishing touch to the entire mod. I will correct the mistakes and things I think should look better, also I may add small details like improving water or other particles even further. I would call it a complete version.

Version 6: Not sure if it ever needs releasing. If so I will work on it too.

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy the latest version as much as I enjoyed working on it. Thank you guys for any support you have given me. Have fun !

As you know for a few days there was no update for the mod. That doesn't mean I completely abandoned it. On the contrary, I made some amazing progress...

I thought I followed the setup instructions but when I run OpenTexMod and then follwing "step5.png" I launch AC2, AC2 crashes instantly and I get an error message from OTM:

"wxWidgets Debug Alert

..\..\src\common\bookctrl.cpp(442): assert "nPage < m_pages.size()" failed in wxBookCtrlBase::DoRemovepage(): invalid page index in wxBookCtrlBase::DoRemovePage()

Call stack:

[02] 00f393AC
[03] 00D88365
[04] 00EBADE7
[05] 02BB05F0

Do you want to stop the program? "

Does anyone know how to fix this?

PS- Running all .exe's as Administrator doesn't help.
PPS- Acutally, even AC2 doesn't run on its own (without OTM) anymore. Great. :-/

Hi, this mod is really amazing, and nearly perfection. I really love your patient work of retexturing, (exept for skybox)and as all Ezio's fan I'm asking you an ipothetic timeline of the possible release date of the next version (maybe the most ambitious, if really works on draw distance. For now I know we only need to wait because you are working with a team on the Black Mesa mod (an other "little" masterpiece), but please try to tell us a date.

Unfortunatly it doesnt work for me. When I try to open the game with Opentexmod I have this error "The global hook is active and this game will be injected! Please delete the game from the list or disable the hook".

I searched on the web but didnt find anything. Re installed the game but same result. No error with the old Texmod but the new textures don't appear either.

If someone can help or a word from the creator would be really welcome ! Thanks

As I've written below: try to run OpenTexMod.exe and AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe with Administrator's privilege. An attached manual in screenshots worked for me (I've got the Uplay version and W10). In OTM you need to only add AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe and tick "Use global hook", then launch a game normally (still with adm privileges).

Hi, can you help me with the installation.
I tick the global hook and add the game, but when I enter it nothing happens, like it doesn't detects it. When I press on the package button nothing happens.

It's the Ubisoft version. I have tried starting it through Uplay and the AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe directly.
Also tried to put it as an exception on Windows Defender.

Have you tried to run OpenTexMod and AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe as Administrator? For me it helped for issues with detecting launched game in OTM.
