I always thought Assassin's Creed 2 as the best game in the series, but the years pass and the graph starts to become outdated, unfortunately we can not improve the gameplay (like the combat system in AC Brotherhood, or parkour in ACIII) but fortunately we can improve the textures through the program Texmod. This project is based on improving all textures of Assassin's Creed 2. Citizens, buildings, menus, effects. To relive this wonderful game.

I have some experience with textures and I'm doing the best I can. Now it may seem little, but eventually we will have great results and beautiful graphics.
But this design is great, and I would love for everyone interested in texturing experience and embrace this project.

As usual, before posting the content I like to make my sincere outburst, to talk about my life,
how everything is ... Well, I confess that these pandemic times are not easy, I don't say so much for the
sake of isolating myself or something like that, but because of the sadness that I carry in my heart, 
we are already in almost 6 months of pandemic and a huge amount of innocent people dead, it is sad ...
My heart really breaks with it, psychologically, I get very shaken, I never knew how to deal with death well,
as I already told you about the loss of my beloved father (although his case was suicide),and I have the empathy
to feel the pain of so many who have lost loved ones, losing a family member, losing someone you love always
leaves a huge hole in your heart.

So, guys, please, PLEASE. Wear masks, clean yourself with alcohol gel, if necessary take a shower when 
returning from home, repeat the custom of the Japanese who leave their shoes outside the house or in 
a reserved corner, practice social isolation, only leave in extreme need.
But, if you are not part of the risk group and take all protective measures, how about helping others?
If you know a person from the risk group who cannot go to get food, go to them, and with the financial crisis,
if you have more financial conditions, buy food for the most needy, exercise SHARING.
Please have EMPATHY towards others, do not spread hate, at this moment we must help each other and
do not attack us, unfortunately some rulers preach more separation, they build more walls than bridges,
create the illusion of "us against them" being that in fact, we are all brothers of the human species, 
so let us have compassion, let us have empathy.

One last addendum before talking about the mod. I see that many people use the mask incorrectly, at least in
my country, they put it on their neck or put it on without covering their nose, and more infinite mistakes.
So I decided to put an infographic here to help how to use it correctly!

Ok, now, lets talk about the MOD, that what you guys want to know right? I am unfortunately or fortunately a perfectionist, and I try to improve every little thing, even in my day-to-day work, I am never satisfied, so I am trying to bring the MAXIMUM of quality with this mod, more and more improving details, of the scenario of npc's, both main characters as citizens, make it as immersive as possible, of course, it is difficult to do this in a game that was released in 2009 and with several engine limitations, and still using texmod for this (Ubisoft, if you are reading this, make an SDK available to us). God only knows how much I wanted, besides the textures, to implement parkour mechanics like AC: Unity, customization and much, but much more content, but unfortunately I CAN'T, simply because there is no SDK and the engine is limited, so I am left with only the text and a lot of texmod, but if I have only that, I will do my best.

In this image the focus is on quality, as you can see, we have a new texture for wood, for fabric, for Ezio's
costume and gauntlet, for thieves' clothes, for bricks, for roofs, for skybox and in addition
 a Shader, quality in a print, little to be seen, but many hidden details.

But it is not just about quality that a mod is made, or anything else, it has always bothered me that the 
icons of some stores are practically ... COMPUTER ICONS IN ITALIAN RENAISSANCE. 
Simply going to a store broke my immersion completely, so this little flag is just an outline of an idea, 
of making stores look more like what you would expect from stores in the Italian Renaissance, of course,
in the HUD will keep the original icons, but in the scenery textures I will try to make the stores as close as
you would expect to see in that period of time, at least ... through the textures ...
Well, folks this is the content for now, each day that passes we are closer to a release,
maybe a demo or something similar. I will TRY to add a gameplay video with the Hugo mission for you see
more of the changes, and I will add more screenshots today.

the biggest problem is the rendering of the objects, if you manage to increase the distance rendering it would be very good

That is the biggest challenge, I tried to improve the LOD textures to make a bit better, but the draw distance itself, the way should be... welll, I not find a solution for that until now. Probaly is hard coded.

Complete novice, but was wondering if you could repeat the regular texture or a smaller resolution but more detailed LOD texture. Curious on what you have done for the LOD textures so far.

Well... about your point...

Thats the main idea, but the LODs texture are not the same exact texture for each texture, I mean, a LOD for a default texture, in fact is a mix of different textures in one texture, here an example of one of the improveds LOD's:

In fact this is a "alpha version" for the LOD's because the default size of the LOD's is 2048x2048, even if I push to 4096x4096 we have really great problem with performance and not a great difference in game because the draw distance makes the meshes very obvious even with a good LOD texture, and the resolution in this fact not help a lot, of course in some LOD's 4k res can have some effect because we get more "area" to work, but ingame the draw distance (hardcoded) makes the results not very good.

The "solution": A good retexture of the LOD in 2k using more appropried improved part of the new textures, as you can see in the example I put here. More than that only editing the map or the draw distance (if map editing in AC2 was possible, believe me I would do a lot more of improvements)

Thank you for the comment my friend. There's a really old V1 you can download, read the old articles, one from 2018 and you can download a really old version.

The New Version well... I can't put a release date, because I'm extracting so much content from the remaster and adapting and making some new textures from scratch to be more renaiscence accurate as possible. That means is a mix of remaster textures with texture skills, double improved. And is so much content that I need to split in pieces the tpf's (the texture packs.

Currently this is the number of textures, a lot need to be improved, but I work and study, with the isolation I have more time for the project but still working on homeoffice, read my articles for more information, so... please be patient.

ACTUAL NUMBER OF TEXTURES - NOT DEFINITIVE.

SCENARIO_1 -> 116 Textures.
SCENARIO_2 -> 131 Textures.
CHARS_AND_WEAPONS -> 169 Textures.
CITIZENS -> 231 Textures.
HUD_ACB -> 12 Textures.
VAMBRACER_E3(OPTIONAL) -> 6 Textures.
MODERN_DAYS (OPTIONAL) -> 9 Textures.

Also a Reshade in progress... So, this mod push the AC2 TO THE LIMIT.

Very cool stuff bro , i also managed to make ezio looking close to E3 in texmod . I would be Nice if u also create some E3 glove or something , too bad we cant mod any animation files for example , change ezios run animation with altairs , because its slightly different.

Unfortunatelly, E3 glove is impossible because we can't edit the meshes, the same way we can't change animations. Even changing the texture painting it white, in the final result looks... strange.

If we could man... I certainly would put animations like Unity or similar, combat exactly like the brotherhood, and a lot of better props in the street.

But... We can't. Ubisoft should release an SDK for fans, Valve do that and make their fanbase more coehesive. Even Bugthesda, I mean, Bethesda do that. Why Ubisoft don't?

But well... if the only thing we can do is change textures using texmod and modify shaders using Reshade, is that we gonna do.

yes we sure need some kind of SDK for this games.
anyway bro , if i can help you with something , let me know , i have all the time for it . also did some texmods , also there might be a way to change animations or models via a tool called '' anvil forge tool'' which was made by delutto , shared on zenhax. but this tool only exports data files and decompresses them , the compress/import function doesnt work well .

so its all about data compression and then import it back in the datapc.forge , when its perfectly compressed , animations and models ect.. should work . but we need a good compression tool for it that is easy to use. zstandard or zLib is a very good tool for it but i dont know how its done.

Well, I think you can help if you want, actually we can do only with texmod, extract some textures edit any way you want and send to me, if they are redundant we can mix the two ideas. Also, add me on Discord renandantasID#1486

And about the tool, yeah, I'm using this tool to extract PS4 material and port to PC version, of course with texmod, but adding material even with zlib I think it's impossible, there's a LOT OF CONTENT hardcoded or in a way that only the engine understands, to dive into that a lot of programmers would need to break it, was the case of first GTA mods, the community get togheter to develop tools, after that Rocksteady give support. But the GTA modding community was always bigger than AC-modding community. The most efficient way in our case is an SDK, thing that I doubt Ubisoft give us... Maybe... just maybe, if we get a number of fans and modders wanting that, we can get an SDK.
