I always thought Assassin's Creed 2 as the best game in the series, but the years pass and the graph starts to become outdated, unfortunately we can not improve the gameplay (like the combat system in AC Brotherhood, or parkour in ACIII) but fortunately we can improve the textures through the program Texmod. This project is based on improving all textures of Assassin's Creed 2. Citizens, buildings, menus, effects. To relive this wonderful game.

I have some experience with textures and I'm doing the best I can. Now it may seem little, but eventually we will have great results and beautiful graphics.
But this design is great, and I would love for everyone interested in texturing experience and embrace this project.

And always remember, nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Demo Release

News 2 comments
Today I will be succinct, without many screenshots, without talking about life, without talking so much about COVID-19 (about that STAY HOME IF YOU CAN THE PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER AND WEAR MASKS),
without putting something in general, just a demo release and basic technical explanations.
Yes, the project is taking more time than expected. (If you don't know why, read the older articles and my life problems)
Yes, it is not easy.
Yes, we go on hiatus for a time because is hard to make a mod like this.
Yes, there are differences in art directions.

No, I'm not messing around.

Technical question:
I changed computers, my old computer was an I3 with an older GTX 1050ti 4gb and 8 ram, running Windows 7.

The old build was made in that rig, in that configs, so... works well in that specs. BUT...

I had the opportunity to buy a better machine (finally some luck in this sad year),
now I have an I5, with 16 ram, SSD, and the GTX 1650 4gb. Good isn't it?
The problem is that my current Asus motherboard only supports Windows 10,
I can't go back to 7 (which for me is still the best Windows). And I guess a lot of people
have the same problem

To my sad surprise, the mod didn’t run the way I expected and didn’t even allow edits,
I had to juggle a lot of texmod builds to make it work, that is, even though the textures were ready,
I had to save one by one and redo the .def file again.
I assure you, it's exhausting, to the point that you feel like throwing the keyboard in the trash can,
even with the help of notepad ++.
I believe that most people here know how to use texmod or similar programs that allow you load TPF's,
the important thing here is: RUN AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe AS ADMNISTRATOR.

Is located in: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed 2

This not work well with Steam and Uplay version ALONE and clear because UPLAY, well, works, but to bypass it you will need a crack, but do it only if you have

I WILL NOT MAKE THIS AVAILABLE. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY THE GAME AND THEN JUST APPLY A CRACK,
IT IS THE ONLY WAY BECAUSE THE UPLAY THAT GENERATES THESE PROBLEMS. BUY THE GAME! I BUY MY VERSION IN STEAM!

Things in this demo:
Main Chars Textures (NPCS_MAINCHARSV3-AMARELO.tpf)
Citizens Textures (CITIZENS.tpf)
SCENARIO_ACII_1.tpf (part 1 of Scenario Textures)
SCENARIO_ACII_2.tpf (part 2 of Scenario Textures)
HUD_AND_EFFECTS.tpf (Improved Hud and Effects)
MODERN_DAYS.tpf (Modern times retexture of characters and scenario)
WEAPONS.tpf (Retexture of some of the weapons of the game)
SPAULDER_E3_BETA2 (The E3 version of Spaulder, replaces the metal Spaulder when you get in Venice)

This is pretty modular, that means, if you don't like the citizens design, the spaulder or the scenario you can load the other tpf's.

Things NOT INCLUDED in this demo:
Reshade Effects.

Recommended mods for a better experience:
Assassin's Creed 2 Visual Fixup Mod (https://www.moddb.com/mods/assassins-creed-2-visual-fixup-mod)

DOWNLOAD LINKS: (Also avaiable in the files section of moddb)
MEDIAFIRE MIRROR: Mediafire.com

OBSERVATIONS: Sorry for the lack of screenshots, I made this because the deadline for a demo and the public demand was high, so, I need to put that in the current stage (for me, far from perfect).

IN THE FINAL VERSION A DETAILED TUTORIAL SHOWING HOW TO INSTALL FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T ARE FAMILIAR WITH TEXMOD OR SIMILAR WILL BE DONE (I'M NOT SURE IF I WILL MAKE A VIDEO OR A SERIES OF SCREENSHOTS).

ALSO IN FINAL VERSION, MORE SCREENSHOTS, MORE THINGS ABOUT HOW TO FIGHT COVID, AND SOCIAL ACTIONS.

Media release, perfectionism and a bit of information.

I know the way to run on the licensed version. you should rename the Texmod executable to the game executable TEXMOD.EXE > AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe . run the Texmod window in uplay, it can open 2 times. we load the textures in the last window that opens and select the original AC 2 executable file. which was renamed so that texmod replaced it. then everything is as usual. this method is suitable for all steam\uplay games to which texmod is applicable

I edit this comment, and I hope it is for the last time. This is more than anything a small guideline to help you know which is better. This will be long but necessary for understand. So I apologize in advance. Having said that, I begin.

I have tried this mod. and without a doubt it is one of the best there is to this day. Someone who has downloaded many TPFs and unpacked them tells you this. As of today, there are only two texture mods for AC2 that are good. one of them is

"Assassin's Creed 2 Overhaul mod"

This mod is good but it has its cons. For example, the main characters look very saturated and strange at times. especially ezio's father and ezio's uncle. in addition to textures with the same resolution as the game. but despite this it is still a decent alternative. (I haven't tried it completely nor do I know exactly what it retextures. but I know that Venice looks spectacular with this mod)

and the other mod, which for me is the best, is...

"Assassin's Creed 2 Retexture Project"

myself unpacked tpf to know what retextures more or less. The way it is packaged helped a lot and was very pleasant. There is a size of 2048px, I think I remember, for most of the main characters. retextures even npcs. Don't expect to do zoom and see 4k textures. the best thing about this mod? that the textures or the majority have mipmaps, or normal map, (sorry for my bad English. I use a translator) apart from many things that I couldn't explain. but if you want a really good texture mod, install this mod. There is no other better mod than this one.

forget about ktmx mods, they are the worst. I unpacked a texture mod for AC2, and they are horrible. coming to have textures out of context like paintings with anime drawings, the ktmx logo itself, textures at the same resolution but poorly selected, that gives rise to strange things roof tiles of roofs out of site. since ktmx uses reshade. with reshade if you configure it well, you can have very good results. Their textures are really bad. I invite anyone who wants to try this to unpack a TPF and look at the textures. Don't forget "Assassin's Creed 2 4k" does not exist. When you unpack the majority of textures is 512 (original from the game) or 1024

I repeat you want a mod for AC2 INSTALL THIS "Assassin's Creed 2 Retexture Project"

I take this opportunity to tell the author of this mod that continuing with this project is incredible. (I tried to improve all 512/256 or similar textures to at least 1080p, with gigapixel. but the game just crashed. I have no knowledge about mipmapis/nomal map and dds files)

Hey, is this mod loading times this long? it takes about 5 mins to load with a powerful PC and super fast SSD.
Am i using it wrong?

Great mod btw will there be a newer version?

You're using it right but yeah, takes its long because the huge ammount of textures, unfortunatelly this is the nature of texmod for HUGE mods, in a weak or in a powerfull PC is the same time.

I hope you run okay the rest of the game

A group on Discord is researching how to insert the textures without the texmod, so, maybe the newer version will not depend on texmod, but I can't promisse that because we're not totally sure if it will work at the moment.

But for the newer versions I'm tweaking a bit more of the citizens and the scenarios.

Finally I'm able to play the game and now it feels much much better than the remaster version, it looks beautiful and very faithful to the original art style. Thank you for taking the time to improve this masterpiece :)

Just open texmod and click where it says target application and click on assassinscreediigame, then click on the yellow folder of the middle and select all the textures, finally click on run.
