A.R.E.A. is a standalone project based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. The project affects all aspects of the game with no exceptions, improving their quality and diversity. The main goal was to create a more realistic Exclusion Zone, where each trip will be a unique and rough experience.

Does this feature has any practical usage?

Like running in one direction and checking flanks for enemies is probably only thing, but again, if you were running, you wouldn't be able to easily spot enemies on your sides as everything on your left and right is also moving, even static objects.

For example, I can imagine running in dense part of Red Forest or some other location and this free look might not really help me spot enemies among dozens of objects that move in front of my screen.

You can watch from the corning, without be spotted. You can spin head with torch to illuminate another direction and much more.

Nice. Even this feature is already included in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly 1.5.1.
