AR2 is one of the oldest mods in the C&C community, with the last official release taking place in 2004. AR2's storyline takes place on a planet known as Atrigo wherein two factions, the Nemesis and the Genesis, battle each other for their own survival. The original mod team's design emphasis was to make the two sides as distinctive and diverse from each other as possible. AR2 was originally designed by modders from now defunct Derelict Studios -- I am not the original creator of this mod. This project does not currently have sanction from any original AR2 team members. If you are a member of the original AR2 team, please feel free to reach out.
Unlike the Iceblink, the Hailstorm is impossible to store ashore, and thus is only seen in equatorial regions, wherein seas are expected to outlive ships. These medium sized vessels, while nothing compared to the warships and trade ships of the past, are among the largest possible at the present time. The single missile battery on the front deck is able to bombard bases far from the water. Most tanks and structures cannot withstand its missiles, the barrages landing with great aplomb from the sky, just as the name Hailstorm suggests. The vessel is separated into two parts, with the missile launcher at the front and the bridge at the back. There exists a bizarre structure on the bottom of the vessel with entangled, glowing green and black masses, which might suggest that this enormous unit is powered by Vinifera for all its otherwise overwhelming energy needs.
Hailstorms can be built at the Dock when a Nemesis Technology Center is present. They are considerably expensive and take time to build, therefore it is important to know beforehand whether these units would help in the battle. In almost all water maps where Hailstorms can be built, they are a great threat that could end a battle. Hailstorms can take on groups of naval units or hovercrafts alone, but are best used under the cover of Iceblinks and Conscripts.
