My name is Thomas. Thomas Farley.
I am Thomas Farley. I live in England, in my own mansion. Mansion, which exists in a peaceful place near a river, filled with amazing landscapes. Mansion, which I used to share with my beloved friend and brother, Henry Farley. He moved away to Germany four years ago. After Henrys egress from our mansion, he moved to small mansion located in the middle Germany. The mansion was full of books and old letters, so basically it's his heaven.
Henry loves books and writing. We used to write for ourselves the past three years, but now- everything's gone silent. Not any kind of a letter, paper, note, anything.
His last letter told about a tome which he found by accident, while moving his stuff in. He told that the tome was bigger than most other books, and that the tome told about unnatural portals, demons and spirits.
He told me not to disturb him for a while, as the last sentence of the letter stated. It's been more than while, by now at least.
What could he have found from the tome? Why couldn't I disturb him, what is so classified? What does my brother hide from me?
It's time to go to his mansion, and find out what your brother has been doing.
This is the story of my brother.

So first of all, I had to restart my project. For some reason, my level editor crashes all the time when trying to open the "Level1".

Atm the screenshots show okay mapping, but you definitely need to work on how you set the lighting of your maps. These rooms look boring and way too harmless. I personally would maybe add a bit more blue to it and also more light like candles/lamps, since this looks a bit poor. Just saying that, because many others haven't looked at that aspect and came out with unrememberable custom stories because of it. In Amnesia you want to impress with your maps. The last thing I would already recommend, is that you should make your maps more dynamic and not so flat.
But well it's only the beginning, but keep my tips in mind. I wish you good luck with your custom story!

Yeah, the maps look a bit boring in those screenshots. The fact is that I kind of like had to rush the mapping and taking the pictures, because Moddb requires the five screenshots to make the mod site.
I am not excatly sure what you meant by the "harmless", could you explain that a little better?
Anyways I see what you mean. The lighting, well, a "lighting" in my maps are in fact, pretty damn terrible. I'm first making the desing/whole map and then take a look at the lighting, and also scripts afterwards. I'm going to work with the lights and will update the screenshots later.

Harmless, because they looks like there couldn't be anything going on really. Yea, it's hard to explain because I have weird opinions sometimes lol.
You could say it's good to trick the player into thinking it would be harmless, but for that time being it would just be boring since you're not really scared. So the thing I meant was the: Atmosphere. ^^ If it is in the morning at the beginning no problem tho. :P
I would not to like spoil my idea of the first map, but you want to know what my plan is for the first map and why it looks a bit "harmless", I can tell you.
I'm trying to get as terrifying atmosphere as possible, because I'm trying to make this mod scary. Not in the first map though.

By the way: If you want good lighting, you should consider using the color blue (blue light coming out the windows for example). This makes your maps and your custom story not only more beautiful, but also gives a mysterious feeling to your maps. People using that trick made really great looking maps in most cases. ^^
