I beta tested the whole mod several times at its various stages, and I must say that I'm impressed. The fact those guys managed to create an over 90 maps thrilling ride in 1,5 year just blows my mind away. You can notice so much work put into every single map, every single script line. This is like playing an entire new game, diffrent than what you usually see. It's hillariously huge, fascinating, frightening, and amazingly well done overally. I haven't finished the entire game so far yet, i'm around 50% of beating the game, and I haven't noticed a single bug, clipping texture or any other issues. It's just awe - freakin' some how a bunch of modders with love and passion can come up with. Sure, sometimes I thought the maps were a bit empty, but that I'm sure has pretty much changed since playing the old versions, and hey, I don't give a flippo about a couple of maps that feel empty among over 80 awesome, well constructed maps. Loved this mod already during its dev hell, and I'm sure I'll love it when I fully beat it to the end, too!

Crafted with love and passion, 10/10 for me.

First of all I liked the creativity used in this mod.

I have played patches of this before and still enjoyed it, also has replay value.

Pos-
- The story and the notes can be confusing at times but it was alright.
-The scares may have scared me in the past but they are still cool.
- The maps are all well made, some of them did lack detail and atmosphere.
- The custom sounds and visuals is a plus.
- The concept puzzles were not too hard at all.
- Resources were actually given fairly and when needed to, well for me.
- A very long mod with 8 chapters with great Easter Eggs which was fun to discover.

Cons-

-Copied concepts from the main game and The Great work in some maps.
-Some game breaking bugs here and there.
-I felt like the boat ride was way too slow.
- The voice acting was painful to hear, not saying mine was good but the rest could have tried. Xenophilious though, is good.

Final Rating would be an 8.5 but since I can't do it, I'll give a 9.
Nice work.

We followed the whole series since episode 1 and we're impressed! We felt the hard work on episode 3 and we really enjoyed playing it! The support on our bug was fast as hell! The synchronisation was a lil' bit weird, but nonetheless it's a freakin' awesome map!
We really hope you're going to create another series with a different storyline in the future!

Wow I'm just blown away literally.

First there was Fugitive 1, I think not the greatest one entire series and lack of map designing and just copying original maps most of them.

Then there was Fugitive 2! So much better with original design and never-seen stuff I ever seen with a lot of heart and passion making sequel to the series. Enjoyable and really well maded.

Then... the final part of series Fugitive 3! I mean "oh my god" this mod is something so freaking unique and exciting I ever faced and I have played so many FC's + over 600 custom stories and this is one of the mods which show's how much talent and work whole team putted on this.

Gameplay is really long what I loved and experienced! After Chapter 3 **** got real and really freaking terrifying and I was literally cringing so many times I can't even count those moments. Every freaking chase, event with unique things produced here is so refreshing it's literally mod of the year.

Short reviews in chapters:

Chapter 1: Really good start, but doesn't excite that much yet and this is the main point every modder should make, build the atmosphere and give the player feeling you are going to get ****** many times.

Chapter 2: Things start to unravel and give the player feeling you are in danger.

Chapter 3: This is the part where I shocked many times, because those terrifying sounds with headphones literally jumped me countless times.

Chapter 4: Oh god, this chapter is so disturbing and maybe the scariest that I have to take a break a lot of times to collect myself and progress further.

Chapter 5: NO NO NO..... JUST NOPE!

Chapter 6: I can't even... think anymore, so many screaming moments and cringing and crying at the corners.

Chapter 7: What a relief! I can enjoy the peaceful music, but nope more events coming and twists on the way, this is the most important chapter of the mod, I think.

Chapter 8: Everything reveals, finally and you can take a breath and just breath.. and breath.

I have to say just one thing, this team got ME scared so much I got freaking nightmares now, it's just that scary. Those insane parts where player lose his mind and events start to happening and some scares are just facing you with most disturbing image they haunt me forever now and I don't think I can't even see real life worm now without getting scared. Hahaha, thanks Neelke :)

Pos:

- Story
- Custom music
- Insane voices, scary sounds really terrifying ones
- Custom monsters and really disturbing ones (they got me so many times)
- Complicated puzzles with refreshing ideas and executed perfectly
- Unique maps with interesting design
- Ridiciously long gameplay which is damn good and exciting

Neg:

- Couple bugs and have to "update couple hps files" to finish it finally
- Sometimes maybe too challenging puzzles and got stuck at times

(These things doesn't affect the score)

I can't really see anything critizing negativite or big foul on this mod. It's just amazing, exciting one of the scariest ever, maybe even SCARIEST. You must play this one, it's so scary ride you will cry many times and **** many bricks I promise that. I got guts to finish it and I'm proud of myself, because it wasn't EASY at all.

My final result, after I finished this mod.

- Screamed at least 30 times
- Hitted "ESC" button too many times
- Taking a break like fifteen times (long breaks too)
- Closed my eyes at least 20 times
- Shouted and saying nonsense maybe 150 times

Thanks Neelke and everyone, who made this, this team got a lot and passion with map designing and they managed to scare the hell out of me! Bravo TEAM! I'm still amazed and will PLAY it again and again when I have courage to do that AGAIN. Lol.

One of the scariest ride I ever faced and played, amazing mod! - 10/10

A colossal story that took me many years to realize I've never finished..

In today's standards especially, there are many things to be nitpicky about:
- The story has some shortcomings with its average english, not so innovative concept and several things being connected in a makeshift way.
- Many puzzles only involve unnecessarily hidden objects in plain sight, and vague clues, if any.
- Design, even to the creation's age's standards is average. There are some nice details here and there, weird innovations and some creative fantasy locations. But more often it's just monotonous, overly large and very mazelike structures.
- Mixed scary encounters, varying from very cheap jumpscares to environments with tension.
- Sound design also ranges from the actually unsettling to the cringy section.

Yet, undeniably, this has insane work input. It fits together well in general, and is definitely a good upgrade on the previous episodes. Probably not one of my favourite mods, yet it's definitely one of the more impressive ones.

If I would have only rated how engaging it felt like playing this in 2023 with so many more advanced mods around, this rating would have gone into the 7-8 territory. However I can tell how much of a passion project this was, and as a fellow modder how much time this must have taken to complete. I had a fun (and LONG) time overall, despite the issues. For these facts above, it deserves a 9/10.

I gave this mod a rating five years ago. Back then I gave it 5/10 because I liked the creativity and good scripting but despised how the story was just a copy paste of the vanilla game, as well as multiple maps being taken from other mods. I still stand by pretty much everything I wrote. However, after replaying it recently, I found out it was actually worse than I remember it.

One thing I complained a lot about in my review back then was the score itself and how so many people are giving this a 10/10 despite pointing out the various bugs and other issues, or just ignoring them. I used a walkthrough on youtube to stand a chance against the many confusing puzzles. That youtuber found multiple bugs and was so bored with this mod that he kept dying over and over again because he tried running past monsters instead of hiding like he was supposed to and still gave this mod 10/10

I don't like to claim things are dodgy, especially with reviews since I am a reviewer myself, but when I see things like testers, random users and youtubers giving a flawed mod like this 10/10; I wonder.

Positives:

- Some creativity
- Competent scripting for the most part
- Some neat looking areas, but unfortunately too few and far between

Negatives:

- A lot of bugs, some of them gamebreaking
- No failsafe for most puzzles
- Copy pasted story from the original game
- Notes are often way too long
- Puzzles are incredibly vague

- Copy pasted areas from other mods
- Huge part of the mod consists of long, empty corridors and backtracking
- Unenthusiastic voice actors
- Music that doesn't fit

Conclusion:

While some levels are quite creative, too many of them are unfortunately copy pasted elsewhere or extremely bland. There's a difference between being inspired by someone else and outright taking their work and using it as your own. I saw remakes of some vanilla game maps and some areas from other mods like The great work. I found more areas than I did years back which makes me question how much effort you put in to each and every map in this mod.

The story is basically copy pasted from the vanilla game, with Alexander (opps, I mean Marius) getting killed in the orb chamber, finding pieces of said orb while talking to Agrippa (opps I mean, what ever he was called), the shadow hunting you down, even some notes being edits of the notes from the vanilla game.

Puzzles are so vague I had to look up a walkthrough on multiple occasions despite playing this mod before.

Here are some of many examples:

- I thought I had to throw bombs at the worms only to then realise they don't respawn (the bombs that is). I could not open the hatch and had to reload a save. I brought a bomb the second time but it didn't work. It was glitched. During the third attempt it finally worked and the hatch opened

- I was apparently supposed to know I had to put random books from one shelf to another with no clues

- I was apparently supposed to know that clothes that are always used as a static decal can be used as a bandage here (which makes no sense by the way. You had to use peroxide on the clothes to avoid potential infection. Problem is, I was in sewer water already. The wound was already potentially going to be infected)

- Buttons I had to press in the teleport worlds which were tiny and had the same color and texture as the planes they were attached on. I couldn't find them without the walkthrough. Or rather, I could with enough time probably, but I could not be bothered to keep searching after a while. Just imagine being color blind or having any other kind of visual impairment. One of the hatches I unlocked with one of these nearly invisible buttons got stuck, too. The youtuber I watched had the same issue

As a last example:

- The water cliff map with the kaernk. You can barely run from the water monster here and it's very unclear where you need to go. Both me and the let's player struggled a lot here. You then need to throw an arm near some rocks in order for the kaernk to break said rocks to create a walkway for you. There is a hint here for once. However, the arm can get stuck between the two rocks easily and it's not clear exactly where it needs to be thrown. At least you had a failsafe here and respawned the arm when I died

As a last thing to point out, the music is sometimes quite unfitting. Like Rayman 1 OST - Deep In The Caves. I love Rayman, but that game is a 2D aventure game. It doesn't fit a 3D horror game in the slightest. Though, weird choice of music is the smallest issue in this mod.

Final words:

I would not say this is the worst serious mod I have played. After all, I played something even worse not long ago. Though, this is not far behind. It's worse than I remember it. That, and I have learned a lot more about design and how to write more thorough reviews now. So honestly, it's a 3/10 this time around.

3/10 - Bad

The Fugitive III is a mod that has been praised over years. A mod that is one of the longest ones released, unfortunately happens to be one of the most overrated custom stories of all time, if not the most overrated.

Positives:

-Original and creative puzzles
-Creativity in general was insanely good. This only applies to maps with
original
stuff in them though.
-The Spider Cave was one of the most terrifying Amnesia maps ever

Negatives:

-The notes are so incredibly long it made me lose the interest to read them
completely. Most of the notes' stuff was about irrelevant stuff regardless
-The puzzles are so god damn vague it is unreal. Zero hints, zero indication,
not even the slightest clue on stuff what you have to do
-Most maps were intensely boring, bland and undetailed, filled with pointless
corridors and nothing interesting
-A feast of glitches and bugs which made me restart the mod thousand times
-The story is nothing but a collection of every possible cliché there is
-The whole mod is basically trying to be The Great Work, but fails miserably
-The Prison map was god damn annoying
-Super boring most of the time

Storyline: 3/10

Cliché, cliché and cliché. Alexander, Orbs, The Shadow, Altstadt, torturing of people, vitae, all these were included in the story. A majority of the story was also purely written on notes (some visuals were included though), but 50% of the notes were so long it felt more like a visual novel than a custom story. If I wanted a book, I would have gone to a book store. The story itself was not that bad, but the way it was presented was so incredibly boring.

Puzzles: 3/10

I have never been this frustrated over Amnesia.

The puzzles were original. There were ideas I had never seen before. The puzzles made sense, and were logical. But then the creators, for some reason, decide to make them the most vague puzzles in Amnesia history.

Examples:
-The cloth pile in Sewer is a prop you can't usually interact with. Now you
could, with zero indication
-The pipe in the map where you had to swim. Zero indication at all
-The levers in the Panorama map. I did not know what they did
-The whole Water Cliff map was a huge failure in its own, with an impossible
Kaernk and the hand

There are way, way more than that as well. They would have been some of the most amazing puzzles of all time, but the creators simply don't give jackshit about hints. Super frustrating and annoying, especially considering the potential they had.

Scare Factor: 3/10

This mod was not scary the slightest. There were a few, certain moments that made me feel even slightly uneasy, and the only reason the score here is 3/10 is because the Spider Cave. Coincidentally I suffer from extreme arachnophobia, so that is your fortune on the score's behalf.

Level Design: 5/10

Super bland and boring for the most part. Empty corridors, rooms with no details aside for the puzzle items and some random boxes here and there, bland and poorly used lighting, and rooms with nothing interesting in them. The areas near the end (lava maps, caves and such other unique areas) were good however, and this is the reason the score is 5/10.

Overall:

I am at the loss of words. How on Earth can there be people who consider this one of the best mods of all time, when all this was was snoozefest of vagueness, clichés and frustration. One of the most overrated custom stories of all time.

Score: 3/10

This mod is epic. One of the longest and one of the best mods ever.

SwedishGames released the third installment of the Fugitive in Episode Three. Each segment was long but this might have been the only storied trilogy for a Custom Story. The further the series went, the more creative the maps were.

Episode Three gives players more maps, more scares, more adventures, but more complex puzzles. There were a lot of awesome moments in this segment. There are moments which can't be matched in quality and creativity in other custom stories.

This is a very large map; one of the largest for a custom story. With a map this size, there are a couple obvious flaws. Everything starts becoming excessive. It's almost like you're doing the same thing more than once in the game. There is a lot of thought that went into making this game, but there comes to a point where it is too much. Perhaps, there should also be moments modified or cut which weren't totally necessary.

I'm still seeing bits of the original Amnesia Game used in this mod as well as The Great Work. Did they need to use those skeletons? This game had all the pieces to an outstanding stand-alone piece. The developers were creative enough to make original surprises, but the story line leaves something left to be desired.

That's not to say this game isn't any good. Lots of the maps and objectives had a purpose, but also frustrating (the trap door in the grave was janky annoyance).

After going through all the horror experienced in this game, the ending wasn't the finish I was hoping for. The ending to The Great Work is one of my favorite finishes. It perfectly transitions from a story-threatening thriller to a beautiful finish. The storyline and adventure in that game makes it a classic played over and over again. Episode Three felt like an unsatisfactory conclusion.

This is a massive game with a lot going for it, but unlike part 2, it's hard to say I'd go back to playing this over and over again. It was good, but felt drawn a little too long. I recommend playing this game after finishing the first two segments.

There are a lot of scares, well-made maps and even some custom "figures." I give this game an 87%

interesting story! Replayed several times, but after updating the game it began to crash. Please fix this problem. This is the longest history in Amnesia and I enjoyed it
