Kinda-ish bad news?

I probably should've asked someone to help me out with the levels in this mod, because it's taken the life outta me. I feel super burnt out from working on it to the point where when I start to add things I feel like I'm forcing myself to work on it and I feel like shit. Originally I planned on releasing it before Amnesia: Rebirth and in a way I do plan on doing that; however, it's sort of a last minute choice that makes me very disappointed. I'll be releasing the mod episodically sort of, Chapter 1 will release on October 1st, Chapter 2 will release later in October so probably Halloween which is perfect. And Chapter 3 is in an awkward situation, I had a plan for Chapter 3 but now I have new plans for it. Chapter 3 will be it's own shorter mod for Amnesia: Rebirth. What I was trying to make originally either was possible but really hard to make, or impossible on the limited HPL2 version of the engine; although now that Frictional Games has made Amnesia open source it's probably possible to make. But seeing the new Amnesia: Rebirth trailer has made me want to make Chapter 3 in that because what Frictional showed off was pretty much exactly what I wanted to make for the final chapter.

So the plan is-

Release Chapter 1 on October 1st.

Release Chapter 2 on Halloween after I've had a break and some time to regain my energy to work on something Amnesia.

Wait a while.

Release Chapter 3 some time in 2021.

After Chapter 2 is finished I plan on going back to other projects in the meantime to take another break, cuz It's going to take more than a month to regain my passion and energy to work on this project even if it's in a different version of the engine. I'm not burnt out from other projects though, it's quite the opposite. I really want to get back to work on SCP - The Dark Confinement Mod, and also of course It Came From The 80's.

Okay i still like this mod, but chapter 2 is a step back in its current state from the previous one. I updated my review to explain why.

Here's some stuff to fix for the patch with chapter 3:
- The level door in the tunnel level doesn't have a sign, and i entered it by accident and it locked itself after. Thankfully it wasn't game breaking but i would have wanted to explore that level first and there was no reason why it should be locked.
- Make matresses static in all levels. They can glitch the engine!
- The blue torches have the bodies of a red torch. Amnesia provides a blue torch model so use that instead i think it's more realistic.

The rest will be explained in the review about some areas being empty and the story writing being weak. Good luck for chapter 3, i definitely would like some things improved but i liked the ending and looking forward for more!

Frame rate is atrocious in this mod, unplayable for me. And I have an RTX2080 with an i9 processor.

I only have i7 and gtx 1060 and i had no problems. Must be something else on your part.

Finished this mod. Some thoughts:

- Design is pretty well done. It doesn't have a lot of flaws in it and there are enough places to hide

- Really creepy at times with creative ideas thrown in here and there

But

- You said in a readme file that your mod is slightly laggy due to high details. I experienced some frame drops occasionally as well. I would play a mediocre mod that works fine, over a well detailed laggy mod any day of the week. You could have easily toned down on details, such as particle effects, and it would have looked perfectly fine anyway. Functionallity should always be top priority. If adding more details makes your mod laggy, don't add more details

- "Begin" not begine. Small typo but wanted to point that out

- Waxroll idea is good, however, they were always very easy to find and often almost next to a phonograph, that it makes me wonder why you didn't just have them in the phonograph to begin with. You can hide them and thus add exploration purposes for the player, like Justine

- Alexander, Brennenburg, etc. Very overused. There's nothing you can do to make such references interesting anymore. Consider making chapter 2's storyline more unique if possible

This is really good. I did eventually notice the Bigine typo after I released the mod. I do agree that I should make the wax rolls more well hidden so I definitely plan on doing that.

The Alexander and Brennenburg part of the story is something that I'm thinking about, I wasn't really planning on having those themes be a major part of the story. But I do think you're right, I should probably try and come up with something different and less overused.

Ok, now I've played mod and I can say something. Very nice and elaborate environment. But the way of story-telling somehow don't impress. The riddles aren require much thought. It's a mod that author wanted to make beautiful, while many other details like interesting riddles, notes and other, are simply missing. This critical thinking, based on the fact that if you make such a elaborate environment, then you need to take care not only of the realism and interaction of the player with it, but also of how the story will unfold through the locations. Because when you play, and only once every 10 minutes you turn on a record that says 3-4 sentences, you can't understand much. (Or maybe I want too much from a custom story?!)
