The sky is multi-layered and I'm still playing with the textures. There's the typical stars and a couple big planets in place. Then I added a translucent greenish atmosphere that slowly moves from horizon to horizon. It's pretty effective and looks really cool in motion, but the graphic isn't final. I may even remove it entirely and keep with an all dark nighttime map instead of adapting AvP2's original design.

Looks wonderful.
Takes me back to the days of playing the AVP2 MP demo nonstop.

I hate this map in AvP 2. Its imba for the marines and its overall friendly for the preds.

The darker atmosphere really swings it in favor of the Aliens now. A Pred can pretty much dominate the highground.

Yeah, I invented a really neat method for making detailed skies without being limited to either different colored clouds or the same old star pattern. With the AvP editors you can only chose one or the other. I figured a way to combine the two and add whatever else I want such as planets, moons, ships flying around, asteroids, whatever.

With a similar method I can also make a map seem like it's floating in space turning on its axis like one of those funky Unreal Tournament maps.
