Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
Starfleet's prototype returns to space dock after an engine test.
Nestled in the San Francisco Fleet Yards orbiting Earth, the development of Starfleet's next generation heavy cruiser had progressed slowly. The design was larger than any other starship yet produced, featured the most powerful warp engines ever designed, and implemented some of the most advanced (and in some cases experimental) technology in the Federation - its development and construction were simply more complex, and therefore more time consuming, than any starship that had come before.
The new ship, dubbed the Constitution-class, was designed to carry Starfleet into a new age of exploration. Manned by a crew of hundreds and able to operate independently and self-sufficiently for years without the support of starbases or repair facilities, these advanced starships were meant to revolutionise the way in which Starfleet ventured into the unknown. It was unfortunate that the Constitution would have to be launched during a time of war - the Constitution was meant, first and foremost, to expand the Federation's knowledge of the universe. Before that could happen, however, the Federation first had to be saved.
Overseen by Starfleet veteran Captain Robert April, Project Constitution was given emergency priority in the face of the Klingons' D-7 battlecruisers. Nothing in the fleet could stand up to this new Klingon menace. At least, not yet. Captain April was a consummate leader, and had some of the Federation's best and most innovative minds under his command. They would get the job done.
Though Captain April himself was an experienced and respected starship commander, his background in engineering had resulted in his transfer to the Fleet Yards. Though his skills as a leader were of great benefit to the Project, Captain April privately yearned to once more travel the stars. In fact, April already had his eyes on his next command - not the first Constitution-class starship, but the second.
I always viewed the Connie as a relatively well balanced hybrid between defensive and exploration duties.
And so it begins...

Oh my I believe Christmas came early. Quick question will it be more like the Cage design or after?
They've opted for the main series design over the "Cage" varient due to it being the most iconic version.
Captain's Log, Stardate 0143.8
Another day, another test, another blown injector. Constitution, Enterprise, and Hood might be the most powerful ships Starfleet has ever built, but right now, the only thing combat ready in this dry-dock is the tug that towed us back.
From what Lt. Scott says, these plasma injectors just aren't up to the task. With the Constitution and her sisters on high priority, someone had the brilliant idea to substitute the Trelium-D insulated injectors for modified duranium ones similar to what you'd find on an Asia or Korelev to speed up our construction time. And as any first-year Engineering student could tell you, the amount of plasma needed to regulate an engine which could conceivably reach Warp Eight is just a little bit higher than ones that barely make Warp 6.5 on a good day.
The good news is that I've ordered Lt. Scott to remove all of the injectors from the warp core. With any luck, the new ones should be installed Tuesday.
Oooh, the detail of these logs of yours is impressive. Makes them so immersive.
Thank you. BTW, notice how Tuesdays seem to be a curse on Starfleet ships? :)
I did. ;)
Ohohoho. Nice! Can't wait to see her in action!
