Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
The Columbia NX-02 engages a Romulan warship in deep space. This battle pushed Columbia and Captain Erika Hernandez's skills to the limit, but ended in the first victory for United Earth forces in the Earth-Romulan War. Although Columbia had to be towed back to Earth for repairs, her efforts proved that the Romulans could be fought and defeated.
The United Earth government's response to the Romulan onslaught in the opening weeks of the war was confused and ineffective. While Earth had been the victim of a terrible attack at the hands of the Xindi, most of United Earth's involvement in regional conflicts had been limited in scale, and for the better part of a century Earth had been under the protection and guidance of Vulcan. Humanity had never faced a true interstellar war, let alone against an enemy about whom they knew practically nothing.
Action against the Romulans was initially left to the discretion of ship captains in the field. After Columbia successfully intercepted and destroyed a Romulan cruiser, Earth was finally woken from its stupor. The United Earth government began appealing to other Coalition worlds for aid, while Starfleet Command began developing a battleplan to counteract the Romulans' unrivalled ability to launch surprise attacks.
Her repairs completed, Columbia NX-02's next mission was to oversee the installation of Vulcan-designed early warning systems on all Earth colonies.
When will all these alien species learn not to screw with humanity, we got so much plot armor your weapons are invalid.
As long as the writers are on our side, humanity will never fall.

I feel like there should be a line about Starfleet being what climbed out of the twelve thousand year deep corpse pile that is human civilisation, and whether anyone who knows what that history is would ever be willing to fight them.
Then again, I get the feeling that with how much Starfleet focus on science they'd be kinda ineffective in war.
