Notice the difference between the two? The shuttles launched by the Constitution are the same as those seen in TOS, while the others launched from other Fed ships are the same as those seen in Axanar.

Strike craft, similar to bombers.

Makes me curious, are we going to see any fighter craft ingame? I've seen some fan concepts for some TOS era fighters, like the Coyote.

Diane Carey's novel "Dreadnought" includes schematics of two
Federation fighters.

I would imagine the Constitution class is simply equipped with the latest model of shuttle, being the most advanced ship in the fleet.

But the TOS one looks so simple and less advanced.

Flat panel RADAR has no moving parts and looks like a simple plate bolted onto the side of a ship, but is the most advanced form of RADAR in the world. Just because something looks simple does not mean it is less advanced.

Except from TMP and onward, Star Trek ships are more detailed and look more advanced then TOS.

The onyl reason the TOS designs are so simple is budget, and screen size.

The moment they had higher quality footage in film and in the 80s the upped the production value.

The ahips of Axanar, shuttles included, were specifically designed to look less advanced than the Constitution.

Then they did it wrong.

To your eye, perhaps. I for one think that the streamlined aesthetic of the Constitution and its shuttle looks considerably more elegant and advanced than the older ships on our ship list.

More detail =/= More advanced

The TOS look was more so just the federation using a uniform look for their vessels with the intent of looking less threatening and more peaceful because at that time they were more focused on exploration and diplomacy rather than being militaristic.
