Age of the Samurai is a total conversion mod for Mount and Blade: Warband.
The primary goal of this mod is to convert Mount and Blade: Warband's exsisting single player content, into an historically accurate game set in the Sengoku period of Japan's history.
The exact year of the mod will start at is 1573, just after Takeda Shingen's death

We hope to achieve many things with this mod. It's our hope that when we release a full stable version, that we have created an immersive, historically accurate and indeed, FUN, Japan styled mod.

While our vision is a complete and immersive experience, we understand that people want to play mods that groups make. Therefore, we plan on making an initial release soon. While it may not be the full experience, we went people's feedback and we want people to enjoy our mod and feel like we listen to them and take their opinions seriously.

So, we will be working tirelessly to make sure that the first release is not only stable but includes;
1)Completely changed existing NPC's names, equipment and text to reflect the period the mod is set in. This includes changing all recruit-able troop tree names to new Japanese troop classes.

2)Have 6 full clans: Oda, Tokugawa, Uesugi, Shimazu, Takeda-Sanada alliance and Hojo

3)Have a completely new campaign map designed to look like Japan, with major cities and castles of the era present upon it.

4)Have new quipment available to the player. whether or not this is enough equipment for us to remove the Vanilla equipment will be made clear when we get closer to releasing our first version.

We hope that in the future, the mod will also contain a completely new sountrack with original Japanese sounding music and optional Japanese or English-Japanese voice overs.
We also hope to include a number of new features like Shinobi, Improved politics and improved mercenary options (and much more) once the game looks and feels like Japan.

Well, It's been well and truly over a year that this project was last officially updated. A Long time to remain silent about something alot of you have been following even to this day.

I figured I would take the time to post this article to clear up everything regarding development of this modification.
Firstly I'd like to officially announce that "Age of the Samurai" is, in its official capacity dead. I left this project quite some time ago for my own reasons and it appears that for the most part, my presence is what spurred true development of this mod on. That said, I am also aware that Captain was trying to organize something to keep the project alive, though I have no way of knowing the status of his attempts, I hope he can get something happening with that, however the team has effectively left this project entirely and as a result, the project is well and truly gone.

I am in contact with almost everyone from the team that worked on this, and we look back on neglecting this project with regret, however we have all grown and changed since then and have moved onto bigger, more ambitious projects with a greater level of skill and dedication than we ever had before. Whilst a mod like this is not exactly something we are working on at the moment, who knows what the future will bring so feel free to follow my ModDB profile if you're interested to see what our next (rather large) project is going to be as soon as we're ready to put up some info.

So, hopefully I've clarified that this mod is indeed dead, and for the forseable future, we will not be working on a Japanese Modification for mount and blade warband.
I apologise for the disappointment this may cause, but hopefully soon enough we can bring news that will get you, the community, excited again.

Cheers, InquisitorFelix

I hate to say but you should, probably leave this project and star a new one. Some other people beat you to it, with an amazing Japanese samurai storyline. Just google "Shogun - Sengoku Jidai"

In order of power, I'm thinking:
Peasants
Bandits (it shouldn't be just samurai)
Footmen (swords, naginatas, spears, etc,)
Archers
Ashigaru (from what I understand, they're kind of mercenaries...)
Ronin
Staff samurai
Bow samurai
Sword Samurai
Daimyo(feudal lord)'s bodyguard
Samurai (uses everything I suppose)

Guess you could include ninja types as well... not sure how many different types there are though, and they're better suited to stealth games... anyways, I hope this helps, and good luck :)

Forgot to say that for units above footmen, there should be a mounted version, except change 'staff samurai' to spear samurai. Also, if you only want to concentrate on the samurai, you could rank them, from trainee through student and sensei to master. (I would recommend you keep the English names 'student/master', etc. as if you wrote the Japanese term, not many people would understand. (except sensei, because everyone's seen karate kid :P) PM me if you want some more ideas btw, but I'm all out for now.
