Thank you dude! I still haven't lightmapped the entire map in HD lightmaps, but when I do, I will make sure to upload some more screenshots. :)

Lol no. This is only the Night Flight map of the Special Forces expansion pack in day. The other night maps converted to day will follow shortly. After this, I will continue to work on my fully custom maps. :)

BTW does BF2 SF Map playable on basic BF2? I thought it has a different shaders or something.. so you can port and make it work on basic BF2?

You are right, but only when it comes to night maps. I've experimented a lot with what might work and what not. So far there is not a single issue when running a day map from SF in BF2.

As for these day conversions, I still must decide if I want to have them to run on SF or BF2. :)

Running SF maps on BF2 would be awesome :o can you make it for me? I really like nightflight map (converted to day version like this pic) and it would be awesome if it is working on my private mod :3 and is that possible to keep the night map works on BF2?

I will release the night to day map conversions publicly. Though the development is still far from being done, and only after that I will choose whether to make them for BF2 or SF.

About having night maps in vanilla BF2, unfortunately that is impossible without bugs. All the night maps that are using the SF shaders must be in the xpack mod folder. There is no workaround and to be honest, I wish it weren't the case, because I will have night maps in my mod and that means I have to replace the xpack with my mod. :)

Nicee! can't wait :D is that possible to convert it into day version using BF2 shaders and just edit the sky and stuff pretty much just like downtown map from AP? it's a night map but worked on BF2.. :/

Yes of course it is, but think of it this way. There is a reason why the night maps have different shaders in SF. DICE made new shaders because each light in a night map (like lamp poles) causes objects close to it to draw their own shadows. Basically they are point lights, and to make the map just very dark like what Jones did to downtown, that feature will be gone. Another important feature that will be gone when you don't use the true night map setting is that you won't be able to use the night vision at all. And remember, those maps are very dark, so you won't see without them. :)

Lastly, don't worry about issues such as this, I have my workaround where I replace the xpack folder, so when I am gonna make new night maps which I will do for my mod, they will work 100%. :)

Description

I rendered these as a test to see whether the engine of BF2 can handle lightmaps at this resolution or not. Luckily it seems that there isn't a major performance impact so far, but at this moment I can't also say that this will cause a smooth Bf2 either. Once I have rendered all the objects as well as the terrain, then I can see if this can feature in a mod. Take note that these screenshots only show the HD lightmaps on the static objects, and not on the terrain, so don't ask me why the terrain is so low definition while the buildings are so HD. :)
