Hi! I'm a level designer, texture artist, 3D modeler, but most importantly... a creative storyteller. I specialize in the Source SDK, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 Authoring Tools, and many other modding programs.

Great post-mortem! It's articles like these that can really help aspiring mod teams or indie developers in the long run, because I know for a fact, I've seen SO MANY mods that looked great, but never came to be because of many different reasons. Whether it be lack of interest, long development hell cycles, etc.

That being said, I'd be 100% interested in seeing you guys doing a commentary stream on the history of Hazard Course and how it has evolved over time. Keep up the great work! :D

I'm hoping that Hammer 2014 and Source 2.0 will be backwards compatible with maps, models, textures, NPCs, etc. from Source Engine 1. Kind of like how GoldSrc/ HL1 content could be ported over to Source.

This is true, Source isn't known for huge maps like Skyrim or GTA, but its maps will be explorable. You as the player are headed towards your current destination; don't just walk in a straight path, look around a little bit. Maybe that old building has a clue or potential plot detail.

This map will be revamped and optimized a lot more and will look much better in the final release.

Well, there will be a lot of open-world exploration. :)

SuperNexus - - 13 comments @ If you are working on your own mod(s) are you going to work for an official developer team in future?

I would probably stay as an indie developer, as I am currently the only modder (so far) making my Source Engine mod.

SuperNexus - - 13 comments @ What age did you start modding?

I kind of wish I had started modding years ago. I was 13 when The Orange Box came out and remember going to the store to buy some office supplies and then seeing that awesome game on the shelf. Unfortunately I didn't pick it up because I had a crappy pc at the time. It wasn't until 2011 that I really started to get into modding.

Other than that, my first mod was a custom L4D2 map for Scavenge mode. I am making a single player Source mod at the current moment, but details about it are kept under wraps.

What 3D modeling program did you use to create this? 3DS Max? Blender? Maya?
