Why are you even using Steam? Anyone with half a brain can figure out how to run this mod without it...
And...well nevermind kiddo. Stay in school.

Thank goodness! I was starting to feel like an old lady around all these youngens ;)
I kid - DX is timeless and so are we!
Word! 7 years of augmentation and the mechs get screwed...again! No....no I can not forgive!
Thank you for giving us orange, instead of lemon-lime.
Make sure to remove your old revision demo install completely, and don't forget to change the name of the deusex.exe to revision.exe as stated on pcgamingwiki. I missed that last step, and was trying to run off my old demo .exe without realizing it - doing that, then running the game off the newly labeled application solved my sound issue. It just wasn't finding the right music files.
Felt dumb for about 5 minutes - then got over it with the soothing sounds of this rather superb soundtrack.
I got it - what had happened was I had forgotten to relabel my .ini and was running my old revision demo .exe. Got it all sorted and now the sound is present.
And might I say, it is superb music indeed.
One issue - probably just me...
Was the background music removed from the opening scene? I ask more for troubleshooting - I have sounds effects fine, just no music. So I can't tell off the bat at the game opening if Im actually missing all background music, or if I just haven't encountered any music yet in the mod.
Anybody else having this issue? Sound effects but no music?
Hey girl! I need your help - I have to get ready for work and don't have whole lot of time to research what's going on -
When I go to CC's website - all I see is the timer. I cant find any links that lead me to any recent announcements about the mod getting released - but it appears that obviously it is tomorrow. I need some info! WTF is going on??
Agreed - its not about the money. Its about owning the copy you pay for. If I ever want to uninstall steam - I lose the ability to play the game I paid for. Never liked steam for this reason.
Sigh....patience seems to be waning among many and the masses are getting hostile. The rioting may end up intensifying to a point where you may not be able to contain it....You'd think you guys were waiting on a cure for Grey Death or something.
Chill out. Ya'll don't really have a choice anyway. Just wait - it'll be worth it.
We definitely stress the importance of contextual comprehension in this house, yes :)
Don't be concerned, he's pretty rational. Smart too. Smart enough to know what he can and can not repeat!! LOL
Side note - the boy participates in athletics, is very respectful, has several friends and does in fact leave the house daily. In excellent shape and health. We stick to gaming after dinner in this house. Because if he's in his room at night gaming, he's not out roaming the streets getting in trouble for dumb **** with stupid people. The more you know ;)
I hope ya'll don't mind a little story time about parenting with Deus Ex...
Sooo - When Deus Ex (Conspiracy) was released, I was about 20 and pregnant with my first child. I discovered and played this game that would inevitably become my most favorite game of all time. Fast forward to today. That child is now 14 - and I built him his first gaming rig for Christmas last year.
Then the question....
"Mom, what's with that Revision mod you've been waiting for? What game is that about...?"
"OHHH **** my child - let me show you Deus Ex".
So as I've done dozens of times in the last decade, I whip out Deus Ex and get ready to install it. He's checking out the case, see's the graphics, and I hear him groan....
"Ugh, mom, its old school. The graphics are crappy. It's gonna drag...should I just wait and play the mod with you?"
I was gonna say yes...but then I stopped.
"Hell no" I said. "The team that's been working on that mod have put in countless hours and resources over several years working to modernize what is only the greatest ******* game of all time. All for little to no compensation other than a love of this game. You sir, will play it one time in it's original state - this will familiarize you with the game premise, and prepare you to appreciate all of the work Caustic Creative has put into to revamping Deus Ex. There are a few other mods available that improve on the textures and player designs; and if you manage to beat it once before they release the completed Revision mod, I'll go ahead and install New Vision and HDTP if you wish so you can run through it again with those. But at least once in the raw, original version. Trust me - you'll get sucked in and thank me later."
He's been in his room for 4 hours straight tonight. Late into the night the previous day until I forced him to detach and go to bed. Every once in a while, I check for a pulse and slide snacks and water through the door. He's already talking about wanting to play Invisible War next (Yes, I warned him about IW), then Human revolution after that. I'm so proud right now.

Deus Ex parenting done right....

Sooo...what you're saying is:
We're aren't ready for an introduction. No....Not yet?
Seriously, we've all been very patient. It would be stupid to rush it at the end just to get it out. Take your time, tie up loose ends, and release a polished mod. True fans will wait. The rest will just get added to the list of NSF casualties.
Long time coming and well worth the effort. You guys are much appreciated for your commitment to this endeavor and this epically historic game. Please know that we are sincerely grateful.
Now hurry up ;)
Marvelous. Truly an excellent update reminiscent of the original. I so cant wait for this to be all done.
Hey Syntax - Check your Yahoo Msgr - I left you a msg!
Ohhh god - the waaaaaiting! What is this offer?! The anticipation has been killing me!
*Facepalm*
Thanks. Blonde Moment. Been too many years complacent of Windows doing **** for me. Forgot that sometimes one still has to give it a nudge. All fixed and installed!
Ok - so I did all that. The problem is with the file itself. It's downloading as an unknown file instead of an executable application. So even when I unblock it, windows doesn't know what to do with it and opens up the "open with" window expecting to me to pick a software program to open it with.
I've redownloaded a few times and no change. Didn't have this issue with the first release.
It's Windows 7. I'll try your suggestion and play around a bit with it when I have some time and try to get it going. I'll msg again if nothing works. Thx.
I keep getting an error that the publisher couldn't be identified, so windows won't let me open it :(
Syntax - I didn't know you were working on this too??
Drool...I'm impatiently patiently waiting :))
Guys, we've been waiting a while for this but all good things are worth waiting for. Take your time, don't rush it. It's gonna be epic when its done :)
