I've already gotten tired of waiting for the top best looking mods like nuclear dawn, black mesa source, and star wars: a new era to come out. Now I'm not saying they'll never come out (and it would be a shame because so much proven work has been done) but let's put it this way; I've since uninstalled HL2, heck I've even uninstalled Steam altogether. Now I know the devs have lives outside of modding and can't provide updates all the time, but when you don't hear from them for a couple of months you can't help but be a little discouraged.

Do you have any videos or screenshots of the actual gameplay? I'd love to see some, but so far all I've found were screenies of maps and renderings of character and weapon models. Let's see some action!

I was just looking through your weapon renders. They all look excellent. I would like to make a few suggestions on making a few additions:

Let's see a colt 1911, or it modern contemporary the p14, or even a hardballer -it would be a funny addition because of the ridiculously long barrel on it.

Maybe throw in an assault rifle.

You could give the sawn-off shotty a more beat-up look - like a few scuffs here and there (maybe some knotches!) and some of that white tape wrapped around the handle would be nice too.

Molotov Cocktails! We all know how flammable the dead are.

Flamethrower. Okay, maybe this one is a little ridiculous but see above statement. And what's better than a flamethrower? A HOMEMADE flamethrower! Something that looks like the A-team threw it together using what they had at hand. I'm just throwing it out there,

Grenade Launcher. Not one one of those big six-shot launchers, that would be too easy and the poor zombies wouldn't stand a chance. I'm talking about the single-shot ones that the SWAT teams and Riot Police use to launch tear gas grenades. I'm sure they can fire other grenade types.

Light machine gun. You'd have to stand still and probably crouch for any accuracy, but I'll bet it would be really satisfying to cut down a large group of zombies with this thing's 200 rounds of hot lead. Just make sure someone has your back.

That's all I can think of for now.

I never got around to playing the first Brain Bread for Half-Life. The only zombie themed mod I knew about was Niel Manke's excellent single player trilogy They Hunger. That one set the bar pretty high but it looks like this one is going to be impressive, and if it's co-op, all the better!

Keep up the good work.

I do have one negative memory of TFC. The nailguns had slow projectiles that were infuriatingly weak. I'm hoping that's one aspect of the original that hasn't made it into this version.

Such a shame. The weapon models looked great. I always hate to see a mod die when there was a enough progress to real whet your appetite.

It's like watching some chefs preparing a really great meal, the smells coming out of the kitchen are so delicious - you're hungry and you can easily imagine how great it's all going to taste. Then suddenly the chefs for whatever reason just say "screw it" and dump everything in the trash.

Here is a site I just looked up. Dino.lm.com

I've taken a look at the pictures under ink drawings and they're pretty good. There are a lot of clear profiles that I think will be really useful. There are a lot of dinosaur ideas you can get from there too. Try throwing in a couple that a few people have never even heard of.

I think you've got a great idea here, it's just the RIGHT mod for Crysis and I hope to see it completed one day.

I think the lower jaw is too thick, the face again looks too cartoony, the body shape is off (too round), and the tail is too thin at the base - It should taper. There are some great dinosaur pictures out there that you could draw referrence from. If I find a good site I will forward it to you.

Nice, but a little bulky and the head (face?) needs to look more menacing and less cartoony. You don't have to make them look exactly the Jurassic Park velociraptors (which were actually a related dinosaur called deinonychus. Why? velociraptor was three feet tall and deinonychus isn't a memorable name. I guess it was a marketing thing.)

Excellent design! I love the art style. I hope after this mod is finished you think about starting a full game with a singleplayer story-line. Maybe you'll land a deal with some company and will be able to produce something for retail.

It looks a like the FN five-seven with some sort of laser sight and/or tac light attached. Very cool, but it doesn't look like a futuristic piece. Of course that's what they have in the show. Nice work.

Damn. I just figured that if you're going to go through the trouble of modelling two weapons then why not go ahead and have two weapons? What's wrong with making the m4 a different gun? It would be a very sound idea, and just makes sense. It's not like it's going to be a gigantic game changing decision, it would just offer a tiny bit more variety and strategy to the game without altering it in any big way. It's really a good idea.

A lower ammo capacity, lower rate of fire and/or greater kickback but with better accuracy and a greater penetrating power than the mp5. It would be a logical choice against better armoured opponents, while the mp5 with the bullet spamming you could pull off would be the best choice against oponents like the unarmoured vortigaunt and all the Xenimals (in other words leave the mp5 the same as it was in the original half-life).

If you wanted to expand the difference you could even go so far as making the grenade launcher exclusive to the m4, though I think the changes I first listed would be more than enough.

Maybe we should have a poll? I'm curious about what everyone thinks.

1) for no difference between the guns.

2) for m4 having lower ammo capacity, lower rof, and greater recoil but also having greater penetrating power & accuracy.

3) all of number two, plus make the grenade launcher exclusve to the m4

Ah. That makes sense. That was kind of my argument before, because I'm afraid the devs might want to ignore that they have two different guns to work with.

Because it would still be redundant having two weapons that are exactly the same aside from looks. Especially when you could so easily make a few small changes that would result in an entirely separate and viable weapon.

Snark-Eater
Snark-Eater - - 45 comments @ Black Mesa

Including both the mp5 and m4 in the game but having only visual differences between the two would be the definition of redundant. You could scale the m4 to hold only 30 rounds with a bit more kick-back, offest by penetrating power (it would be more effective against the heavily armored human grunts). If you want to go the extra mile you can even offer a mini-scope (basically a 2x zoom) to make it more a of a precision weapon as opposed to the spray'n'pray role the mp5 held in the original HL. Another options would be to ditch the mini-scope idea and make the underslung grenade launcher exclusive to the m4. That or scrap the m4 altogether.

I know you want to make it as much like the original game as possible, but I don't think anyone is going to complain if you take a few minor liberties here and there. As long as they make sense.

Thos weapon models are top knotch and I can't wait to see them skinned....but don't skimp on the animations. If the animations aren't perfect it really takes you out of the game, regardless of how awesome the models and textures are.

It looks great. I remember following this mod since its inception...in fact it's been a while since I last checked in (you only had two screenshots at the time I believe). I'm glad to see the team has made so much progress. Do you have any estimates as to when it will be complete?

In any case, it appears you're doing the original game justice.

This is an excellent concept, but I found the gameplay to be a bit slow. The last time I played it I rarely fought the enemy team, and didn't run into them very often either. Those cactuses are really effective, perhaps too effective. The combat felt a little clumsy too, with a few weapons doing almost negligible damage, they were more of a deterrent (unless of course that was their purpose). The kid in me really liked the poop attack though. I spent way too much time crapping at the top of hills and then giggling like an idiot as I watched the turds roll down it. The sad part was that I could do this for quite some time and never have to worry about being attacked. I can't blame that part on the game though, it was really just a lack of players.

It had some scary moments. The level design could use some work though, and I'd get rid of those big doors that slide up vertically. They're fugly. Other than that I can see this becoming a pretty good game, the ideas are all there.

I would some new weapons and enemies though. That usually gets people's attention.

Hi, I was browsing a Half-Life 2 mod database on Moddb.com and came across a mod called "Jedi: Timeline". It was a popular (not to mention ambtious) mod, and its release was anticipated by many people (It also apparently won some kind of award for best npc models in a mod). There have not been any progress updates for months, and about a month ago it was reported that the URL the development team provided as their website, no longer opened the "Jedi: Timeline" website, rather it opened the Epiphany Six Studios website.

I would like to know if you were affiliated with the Jedi: Timeline Mod for Half-Life 2. If you are, I would like you to confrim whether or not the project is dead so that I can perhaps inform the moderators (and unhappy gamers) of the mod database website and they can remove it from their database. The mod's status is still listed as Active, but as I have mentioned before there have been no updates for an unusually long period (6 months).

This is the link to the Jedi: Timeline mod where you will find the link to your website:
Moddb.com

Thank you for your time.
