Rush, I can't even understand what you write, I'm not part of this development team, but I'm also a modder and I need to defend these guys.

Work and personal life is a million times more important than any mod, modders like us make this kind of stuff for free in our free time, is time consuming, is exahusting sometimes and requires a lot of knowledge of the engine.

So you want them to give up their job, and work on the mod for FREE all the time?

Do you see how selfish your point of view is?

No matter the hype, no matter how much you want the mod, modders do it in their spare time, they're human beings, they're not robots, they're not your minions.

So just WAIT.

So many people waited years for mods like Black Mesa and were not disappointed, because they RESPECTED the developers.

Modders HAS A LIFE OUTSIDE THE MODS, THEY HAVE JOBS, THEY HAVE FRIENDS, THEY HAVE FAMILY. LIFE IS NOT ONLY BEHIND A COMPUTER SCREEN!

renanthevampire @ Demo Release (NOT FINAL)

Well, this is something I agree.
But unfortunatelly, is not something the mod can fix, since the main objective is the retexture.

But in story, setting and a lot of stuff is one of the best in the series

Some suggestions and questions:

1- I know this is a "modern interpretation" but, I can ask for a "optional" 80's cars? I know a few in GTAIV mods, that maybe can fit with Vice City style.

2- The cutscenes for the main missions (story missions) will work correctly? Any status of the models of the main NPC's? Like Lance Vance and Dias? Really curios how you guys wanna make their visuals.

3- We already see the choppers, any plan to add planes or the parachute function of the Ballad of the Gay Tony?

4- Interiors... since the old Vice City a lot of people think about interiors, not only the mission related ones, you guys plan to make more interiors, for example the other hotels or bars? I think this is something cool to give more density to the game.

Sorry if I sound rude in any of these questions, is just... the work you guys are doing is amazing, and the more nostalgic vibe, better ^^

Put the Steam crack in this location:
steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed 2

Not on Ubisoft game launcher folder, and yes, your old saves will be lost because the override of the .exe causes this, unfortunatelly, the lack of an official SDK makes we do such things, is the sad price to pay.

If possible unninstall completely your AC2 in steam and reinstall, don't use your Ubisoft Game Launcher, I will send you a PM with more details.

I have no plans at the moment to make a Brotherhood Retexture Project. Only God knows.
But, If I would do a Brotherhood Retexture Project would be different from that, one or thing could be ported, but essencialy the things would be done from scratch.

Thanks 2manyfigures, I'm glad to help you, in your old comment (for the people who don't know, he was the guest below) was just a matter of instruction of how to fix the problem, but with the right instructions he could load the mod and see the improvements.

Also, he was nice to say this comment here.

For everyone else, if you need advice of how to run this, send me an PM or call me on Discord.

With all the respect...You read the basics in the article? Know how to use texmod?
Run as admnistrator?
And if you're using the steam version, well, unfortunately for now, you need to crack it.

About the Windows 7, yes unfortunately, but I can guarantee, was the best Windows...

As I said, I'm trying to readapt these things to Windows 10.

Ahh and if the loading time for start the game is extensive, just wait, a large amount of textures, so WAIT...

Is an intelligent way to think, and I imagine a lot of research involved in that, congratulations!
And about the NPC's?
I notice some "phantom" clothes of citizens, Venice is more common to happen these glitches.

Oh, I will recommend the people use your mod in my mod, MAYBE I will release a demo in these days, need to fix a lot of textures...

Since I moved to a new machine I found a huge ammount of bugs in Windows 10 run.
The old version is running in a Windows 7.

Yes, same tpf's files, different results, to be more clear CTD results.
So I extracted all over again with TPFExtractGui (because for some reason the old .def and .log files don't build) and repacked all again.

In short: I an re-saving all textures all over again, thanks Windows 10 for this inconvenient problem.

Maybe in day 30 (MAYBE) I release the Windows 7 version, but I guess Windows 10 users can have some problems.
And since this mod retexture a HUGE ammount of the textures of the game, a good machine is necessary for that, and the best machines at that moment runs Windows 10 because the hardware (my new Asus motherboard for example can't accept go back to Windows 7), for a clean experience.

In short: The demo can show some problems, I'm warning now. I'm running to fix that until 30 november for a demo release that can be compatible both with Windows 7 and Windows 10.

For the complete experience I'm tweaking the reshade and adapting new ideas for the final version, the final version I have no idea when I will finish.

In fact NPC LOD's is something that looks great to change and improve.
Another simple thing I notice is about the fabric of hiding spots on the roofs disapearing with the mod on, just the fabric. I notice today first in Venice In Frari Area but the same happens in Florence in some places

Great work.
I'm testing with my retexture project and some Reshades shaders.
Looks a pretty good work, but maybe you can tweak the interface to give a sound effect of on/off for the effects.

As the guest says, is possible to draw even further?
And if not, what the other possibilities you can work on via this thing? More enemies or similar?

QUICK UPDATE: HEY GUYS THE LACK OF UPDATES IS BECAUSE WE'RE TRYING TO DO IT WITHOUT THE USE OF TEXMOD. IS A TRY TO INJECT DIRECT TO THE ENGINE.

IF NOT WORK THE SOLUTION WILL STILL TEXMOD.

Thanks for the good wishes and sorry for my bad english ^^

Well... about your point...

Thats the main idea, but the LODs texture are not the same exact texture for each texture, I mean, a LOD for a default texture, in fact is a mix of different textures in one texture, here an example of one of the improveds LOD's:

Imgur.com

In fact this is a "alpha version" for the LOD's because the default size of the LOD's is 2048x2048, even if I push to 4096x4096 we have really great problem with performance and not a great difference in game because the draw distance makes the meshes very obvious even with a good LOD texture, and the resolution in this fact not help a lot, of course in some LOD's 4k res can have some effect because we get more "area" to work, but ingame the draw distance (hardcoded) makes the results not very good.

The "solution": A good retexture of the LOD in 2k using more appropried improved part of the new textures, as you can see in the example I put here. More than that only editing the map or the draw distance (if map editing in AC2 was possible, believe me I would do a lot more of improvements)

renanthevampire @ Media release, perfectionism and a bit of information.

In definitive edition? I really doubt it, I tried many ways to do that, also, I'm trying to fix the LOD but was a completely failure and I broke my game hahahaha.
Not the textures, they're all ok, but the fixes most than necessary only Ubisoft can make it... or if they give us an SDK, thing I really doubt that will happen someday for any AC game.

Question: There will be 80's cars? Or the cars will be the default GTA IV ones?

Good karma+3 votes
renanthevampire
renanthevampire @ Assassin's Creed 2 Retexture Project

That is the biggest challenge, I tried to improve the LOD textures to make a bit better, but the draw distance itself, the way should be... welll, I not find a solution for that until now. Probaly is hard coded.

Well, the citizens most part of them have retextures too. Not only main characters but every cloth of every citizen have a touch to be more original.

So, we have scenarios redone, NPC's redone, hud redone, and citizens redone. Even shaders. The remaster that game deserves

Well, I think you can help if you want, actually we can do only with texmod, extract some textures edit any way you want and send to me, if they are redundant we can mix the two ideas. Also, add me on Discord renandantasID#1486

And about the tool, yeah, I'm using this tool to extract PS4 material and port to PC version, of course with texmod, but adding material even with zlib I think it's impossible, there's a LOT OF CONTENT hardcoded or in a way that only the engine understands, to dive into that a lot of programmers would need to break it, was the case of first GTA mods, the community get togheter to develop tools, after that Rocksteady give support. But the GTA modding community was always bigger than AC-modding community. The most efficient way in our case is an SDK, thing that I doubt Ubisoft give us... Maybe... just maybe, if we get a number of fans and modders wanting that, we can get an SDK.

Again: add me on Discord renandantasID#1486

Unfortunatelly, E3 glove is impossible because we can't edit the meshes, the same way we can't change animations. Even changing the texture painting it white, in the final result looks... strange.

If we could man... I certainly would put animations like Unity or similar, combat exactly like the brotherhood, and a lot of better props in the street.

But... We can't. Ubisoft should release an SDK for fans, Valve do that and make their fanbase more coehesive. Even Bugthesda, I mean, Bethesda do that. Why Ubisoft don't?

But well... if the only thing we can do is change textures using texmod and modify shaders using Reshade, is that we gonna do.
