Came to write this, but found your comment.
Yeah, added scopes apparently have sensitivities of their own which is sometimes 10X my original zoom sense! Fun times :D

Edit: Just realized all I have to do to solve the problem is going to provak's YouTube channel. Nice.

Done. I had totally forgotten about the review section!

Also, no chance of messing up something. The current version of ABR is great as is. And if some people don't like what comes in 2.0 they can always install the previous version.
Once again, thank you for dedicating all the time and effort, mate.

I finished the game about a week ago with the ABR mod and I decided to share my thoughts here. It might be of use to other readers who are considering using ABR.
*This post contains NO spoilers.*

TLDR; If you haven't played this game before, or had a buggy/unpleasant experience with the vanilla, do not look anywhere else. Install ABR mod and enjoy. You won't regret it.

----------------------
A little more context:
I had played the first two Stalker games when they came out. I enjoyed Shadow of Chernobyl and I was frustrated with Clear Sky ... to the point that I didn't even approach Call of Pripyat when it came out.
A decade later, and merely out of curiosity, I decided to play Call of Pripyat just to complete the trilogy. I had prepared myself for a 'less than optimal' experience ... as 'being buggy' and 'constant crashes' are the trademarks of Stalker games.
Looking for the best mod for the experience, I came across ABR, as well as other mods, famous among them was 'Misery'.
Here is my word of advice to anyone who either 'wants to play the game for the first time' or 'wants to experience the vanilla game but remastered'; if you are on these two, then ABR is for you. Other mods, as great as they are, either fail to improve 'every' important aspect, or change the gameplay 'significantly'.
Save those mods for your next playthroughs, especially the Misery mod.
IMO, Call of Pripyat vanilla is a good game and the best of the trilogy with an engaging story. It deserves to be experienced in a remastered fashion, at least once.
Having finished the game with ABR, I had a smooth sail. Nothing game breaking, and mostly stable gameplay.
And when I finished the game, I felt like I had one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
Call of Pripyat with ABR not only reignited my passion for survival RPGs, but for gaming in general.

I hope this piece helps gamers who are looking for the same things I was.

mp5lng May Sidorovic bless you in all his greatness.

Quick question though, and sorry for coming late to the party, but is there a version of the mod compatible with misery 2.2.1? Or all the stalkers are playing guitar and sitting pretty for exactly that?

Thanks again, man. I hope you enjoy every step of improving the mod.

NielIvarez - - 13 comments @ Misery 2.2.1 same sensitivity for all weapons

You are a beautiful human being. Never understood why the 'handling' stat is a good idea in an FPS game.

I have 2 questions and a reminder.

Question 1: What does 'crosshair_inertion' do? I heard that if you want to adjust the control_inertion value, you might as well adjust this one too.

Question 2: Is there any way to configure the ADS sensitivity in the game?

Important reminder: To play with the same sensitivity, you need to also set the same value for 'control_inertion_factor' for all the outfits in outfits.ltx since costumes also have hidden 'handling' stats and they change your sensitivity.

Thanks.

Thanks for the mod. The passion really shines through. Can't wait for the release <3

Quick question. What is the easiest way to get the weapon config .ltx files? I just want to do some basic tweaks to some weapons. I was wondering if there is an easy way to get those files.

Thanks, and keep on the amazing work.

Hey there :)

Three quick questions.

1) Is there a discord server for the mod? I'm asking because if there is, a lot of the basic questions I have or might have in the future are probably already answered there.

2) I'm getting some noticeable stuttering and FPS drops in different areas. And I'm running the game on a decent PC. I understand it could very well be related to the game itself as STALKER games are not famous for smoothness :D
But, I was wondering if there is anything I need to double-check just in case.

3) Mouse sensitivity on X and Y axes are different, right? As in sensitivity on X direction is by default higher than Y direction. Is there a way or command to change that to 1:1?

Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed response, mate.

The fact that 2.0 will be unpacked is a huge boon, as people have the opportunity to mix-and-match or tweak to their likings.

As you mentioned, changing any standard vanilla feature without providing it as 'an option' is going to make many people unhappy.
One of the things I love about ABR is the optional section, allowing people to 'choose' the things they wish to add to the game.

Thanks again friend, and enjoy perfecting ABR in 2.0 <3

Thank you for the compliment, my friend :)

By the way, I have a suggestion which I know is a lot of work, especially now that you have enough on your plate. Just add this to the pile of 'ideas' :) or maybe this can be outsourced to other modders. I apologize for my lack of expertise as I can only help with the idea itself. I also apologize for the long post beforehand. Here it is:

The issue:
It regards the 'handling' stat in the game, or rather in the entire series.
Stalker games think it is realistic to let the weight of a weapon affect mouse sensitivity. So basically, each weapon has its own mouse sensitivity. On paper, it sounds like an interesting idea. In practice though, IMO, it defeats the whole purpose of 'git gud' in an FPS game :) FPS is about training your muscle memory to turn quickly based on a 'fixed' sensitivity.
To me, this was a red line and I could never play the vanilla game with this feature.
For ABR I just went ahead and edited "control_inertion_factor" and "crosshair_inertion" for each weapon individually in their config files. I did the same thing for the outfits as well. And everything seems good and well so far.
There is a mod here on moddb that does this (basically a set of edited weapons config files), but for obvious reasons, it's not compatible with ABR.

Solutions:
I think, there is an easy solution to this, and a more elaborate one.

The easy option:
Providing a set of copy-pastable .ltx files in the form of a patch; including every weapon and the outfit.ltx .
* People using the configs should be warned that these configs are essentially trivializing the 'handling' stat. If they upgrade a weapon's handling their sensitivity changes and they should adjust the value manually to compensate for it.

The elaborate and more time-consuming option:
The easy option, while viable, basically disables the handling stat in the game.
Since it must be very problematic to hard-remove it entirely from the game (with the upgrade system and all) I was thinking if this 'stat' can be 'redefined' or 'repurposed'. I know this probably sounds very arrogant as it must be 'a lot' of work :D
But I still have suggestions:
Handling can be redefined as 'time-to-draw' or 'reload speed'. I've noticed that the draw animations do look a bit slow. The reload speed is missing from the game entirely as well. I wonder how hard and time-consuming it would be to speed up those animations (.ogf files?) using 3dmax.

Long rambling short, I thought you may enjoy reading these ideas, knowing full well that these are just ideas and suggestions. ABR is amazing as it is and delivers beyond expectations.
I also know that changes like this have those 'ripple effects' and might disturb other balances and have possible unexpected outcomes; let alone the fact that this needs to be implemented as 'an option', since others may enjoy the original handling stat.

Oh, and if this wasn't the right place to write this essay, feel free to ask me to delete this. I'd be happy to oblige.
Cheers,

It's very nice to see this exist for CoP. Good job mate.
Unfortunately, mods like ABR (an amazing mod btw) can not incorporate this ... or maybe there is a way?

Thank you alanberserkrose for developing and maintaining such a heavy-duty mod.
I've been playing for a couple of hours now and I couldn't contain my happiness with the mod. I had to come here and show my gratitude ASAP.
It's a warm joyful feeling when you play this amazing game 'modernized' and only with a simple copy-pasta :)

I'm looking forward to the future updates, mate. Superb job.
