Just as an anecdote, I could play CoC 1.4 and 1.5 on Windows XP 32-bit (Max 2GB per program) reasonably well. But could not enter Truck Cemetery at any setting. I even tried it with all textures disabled (everything got a blue color), but still no go when loading Truck Cemetery.

Edit: Wonder if someone with the source of that map could easily make a 'lite' version with part of the wreckages removed?

Only last year did I first play Stalker, So I did not have any particular expectations of Call of Chernobyl. I did enjoy the Dead City map, when playing as a Merc friendly faction. 1) Always something happening there. 2) can scavenge guns after merc-bandit clashes. 3) can help the mercs and had some tense indoor combat. 4) The merc base remains rather safe anyways. ... I agree though, The map is rather small and there should be at least one house in between the two camps. Like maybe move the bandits to the Adjacent school building instead?

It is exactly the NT version. I am aware XP is v5.1. If you put major version 5 there iinstead of 4 it works just as well. Look up the PE header specification for details.

Found an unnofficial CoC v1.4.22 Windows XP patch. Works fine so far. I checked out the changes and it is just the version check in the PE header inside xrEngine.exe: Change two bytes in xrEngine.exe at offset 0x170 and 0x178: both from value 06 to 04; the whole package then runs in Windows XP. :) Why did I not find this a week earlier?...

Surprised you were/are considering this XP compatibility, but I would appreaciate it for one.

There was a XP compatible xrEngine from januari 2017 floating around and it actually works OK so far for 1.2.24 and 1.3.2 installs of CoC. Just that these versions are really hard to find now.

The older all inclusive patch "CoC_manual_1.3.20.7z" has vanished from the internet. Can somebody please share a copy?

Please note: Red Alert Classic Mod - for OpenRA v20160508

Available here: Members.quicknet.nl In the 'Downloads' section.

Nothing hacky, just changed the rules and weapon yaml files. This way a lot of things could be adjusted back to the classic game.

If someone wants to mirror this, that is fine.

Regards, Gerwin
