I appreciate your reply - thanks. Reloaded the level, dodged the heli again, and this time the cutscene with doc worked fine. Still in the game!

Dear Dezodor and team - thanks so much for this awesome mod that has totally sucked me back into the zone over the last few weeks. The game looks just beautiful and I often just have to stop and gawk at the eye candy.

Had a few starting issues with the footsteps sounds, game brightness, etc. - but found solns by patiently reading the forums (i.e., replacing the OpenAL32.dll file with the one you uploaded here: Moddb.com, deleting the user.ltx and recalibrating graphics settings, using max quality in the basic settings and generally leaving the advanced settings at their defaults, ensuring shadowmap and sun quality were on medium, etc). The game is running quite sweetly on my aging set up (GTX670OC, 2GB VRAM, 3570K stock clocks, 8GB RAM, 2560x1440 downsampled to 1440x900 on my ancient monitor). Whilst there are some hitches opening the PDA map or entering areas with lots of NPCs, things soon settle down, and I generally enjoy 50-70FPS. As I mentioned to a fellow poster below, I've been running in DX11, having encountered a few glitches in DX10. The game seems very stable to me - I've only had a very few CTDs.

Today, however, I seem to have hit a brick wall with the Meet Doc quest in the Great Swamps. Basically, the cutscene with Doc does not appear to complete properly. When the camera finally returns to my control following a brief screen white-out, there's a duplicate character model of me facing Doc, and Doc is unresponsive.

I am running two mods: Weather Fixes 2.2 and the Carryweight Booster.

Any ideas or codes I can input to complete this quest and progress on to meeting Ghost? I'd like to keep playing if possible, but if it's a case of waiting until 1.4005, so be it.

Thanks again for a fantastic game!

I had this too - as if the stereo sound field was malfunctioning, doubling up the footsteps. The solution is to use the OpenAL32.dll file from Lost Alpha v1.3003. See this page from June 19 2017: Moddb.com and just hit Dezodor's link. Just replace the OpenAL32.dll file in your STALKER Lost Alpha bins folder.

As stated in a few other places, the overly bright lighting can be solved by deleting your user.ltx file (in the STALKER Lost Alpha appdata folder), which then necessitates resetting the graphics when you reload the game.

Here, what worked for me was following the advice to choose the maximum quality setting in the basic graphic settings menu and to generally leave the advanced settings sliders and toggles where they default. I have my HDR coefficient slider set at around 30%, but your ideal setting may be different.

Whilst some posts recommend running the game in DX10, I found I was getting odd graphical anomalies (like seeing a transparent model of my character near some surfaces). I've been running in DX11 with no apparent problems.

Good luck!

Hi Trance, just wondering if I've encountered a few other bugs.

1. The Mage's guild chest in Sadrith Mora does not open.

2. It does not seem possible to soul trap certain creatures. In particular, I don't seem able to soul trap ash ghouls (necessary in order to complete one of Skink's quests).

I like the general increase in difficulty. I'm now at level 40-something and had got a bit complacent about mowing down enemies with abandon. I'm having to be more strategic about some battles now, and that's surely a good thing.

Hi Trance, pleased to report successful update to Rebirth 2.2 from 2.11, fixing saves with Wrye Mash. I was actually surprised by how straightforward it was - literally a couple of mouse clicks!

Played for a few hours this evening and all seems well. Have to say that your work in Ebonheart looks splendid! Also, nice to be able to get into the Suran slave market :)

One possible bug? Noticed that the Mage Guild chest in Balmora would not open.

I would say FPS in Balmora is, on my system, up 4-5FPS on average. I used to dip down to 17 FPS, now the lowest seems to be about 21 FPS. In other areas Balmora can be in the 40s - a variation that seems in line with other towns in the game and all perfectly playable.

Balmora still looks great, although I was initially a little disappointed to lose the riverside traders (TBH, hardly ever traded with them, but they did add local colour).

Fantastic work on this lovely old game. Many thanks.

Sorry for the message bombardment Trance - I'm kind of figuring things out as I go. Actually, having thought about this for a bit I'm wondering whether I would be right in assuming I only need Wrye Mash to repair saves from Rebirth 2.11 so they'll work with Rebirth 2.2?

In other words, would I just follow the process I used updating from 2.1 to 2.11 (i.e., replace the ESPs, add the Textures, Meshes etc. folders to the Morrowind Data Files folder, but choosing 'No' to overwrites)?

In all of this, I will just leave all the MGSO stuff as is currently working with Rebirth 2.11 (except for re-running Distant Land of course).

Then, I need to use Wrye Mash to repair my saves?

Thanks for your patience :)

Hi again Trance. Ah, I've just discovered that the Morrowind patch 1.6.5 Beta (BTB's version) is already in my Morrowind Data Files folder. This must be included already in MGSO 3.0.

Hi Trance, over 100 hrs in on Rebirth 2.11 + MGSO 3.0 - still totally hooked. Keen to update to 2.2 via Wrye Mash, but have a few questions, if that's OK. I'm working from 'vermin's' tutorial.

(1) When creating the Installers folder in the MW directory, would I keep all the mods that came with MGSO and only delete the Rebirth 2.11 ESPs that I'll be replacing with 2.2 versions? I know the tutorial says start with only the official ESMs, but according to Kingpix, MGSO does not work with Wrye Mash.

(2)Given that MGSO automatically installs the MW Code Patch 2.0, is it necessary to install the Morrowind Patch 1.6.5 Beta ESM? I'm just worried about potential conflicts.

Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again for your great commitment to this wonderful game :)

Hi again Trance, 60+ hours into Rebirth 2.11 now, running with MGSO 3.0. So far no problems. Having a great time in the enhanced Morrowind. Your hard work smoothing landscape bugs etc certainly shows!

Good to hear you're planning to tweak Suran - wondered where the Slave Market had got to :) I shall wander elsewhere and return after updating to 2.2. Will saves from 2.11 be compatible or will I have to bite the bullet and learn Wryemash? Oh well, if needs must...

All the best and good luck with further developments of your fantastic project.

krkrkrk - - 11 comments @ [OUTDATED] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics

Brilliant mod - has rekindled my interest in MW after several years.

I have Steam GOTY copy. Disabled UAC for install and play. Running with MW Rebirth 2.11 - no probs if you follow MGSO install instructions (most user-friendly and professional installer I've ever encountered) and carefully read Trancemaster's FAQ for MW Rebirth:

Moddb.com

Can be a bit demanding performance-wise. I have an OK PC (I5 3570K, GTX670, 8GB DDR3 1600, 1440x900res) and, on the 'very fast' setting for MGSO with distant land defaults, no DOF but SSAO, I get 45-60+FPS in the countryside, 25-40+FPS in towns (in the teens at times in Balmora). However, I am running MW Rebirth with MGSO and, so far, after 16+ hours of play all seems well (although the game does tend to crash and hang when I exit).

Does look beautiful though with the distant land, god rays, etc... Always liked MWs more fantastical and exotic settings compared with Oblivion and Skyrim - both of which I have also played to death, but MW is something else. Especially with these upgrades!

Hi Trance. Just wanted to congratulate you on all your hard work. 16 hours in, just reached Balmora. Playing MW again for 1st time in several yrs. Scope of your project already evident!

Thought I'd mention I'm running MW Rebirth 2.11 with MGSO 3.0. Followed your FAQ - custom trees, no overwrites, etc. V fast PC setting (I5 3570K, GTX 670) all bells & whistles except DOF. FPS typically 45-60 open areas, 25-40 in the towns, does drop into teens in Balmora, but still playable & looks fantastic.

I did update from 2.1 to 2.11, replacing all 3 Rebirth ESPs, but not allowing any other overwrites. Should that be OK? Seems to work.

Minor glitch: at night in Peligiad there are some floating illuminated bay windows between smithy and alchemist. Rebirth or MGSO? Or perhaps I made an installation error.

Anyhow, really enjoying MW 2nd time round with all these enhancements. Quite an experience! Thanks again!
