Hello,
seems very promising, although few thing are still disappointing a little bit about this mod. I'm missing or haven't found any complete description. There is a lot of features and most of them without any idea how exactly it works, so if there is somewhere I'm sorry and be pleased to be corrected.

First of all - first fight (well after King's landing) against some looters, I ordered my 2 men to hold the position in front of enemy and for about 5 sec was unable to move... so was almost killed without a way to act.

Permanent wounds are their own chapter... it's annoying and I believe that it really pushes many players away from this mod, sorry but such features should better be optional imo.
The good part is that at many others are optional like stamina or rest (with rest affecting morale you literally have to waste in-game time to keep it up for zero gain of gameplay. It adds a little bit of realism, but more realism does not mean more fun... there are other ways to work with rest or more interesting mechanics).

Random events are... just weird. Might be interesting at start - later it gets annoying over and over again, also lost of stats for simply not knowing which option to chose in that specific dialog... :/ Better without them.

On the other hand there is plenty of unique features - child, settlement for example... haven't tried any of them yet, but I'm looking forward it.

Mod itself seem to be very hard at the begging - after a long time getting back to warband this is probably not the right choice. Overall great job and keep it up, thank you... and make permanent wounds optional.

Well about spears, it always was little tricky in this old game.
But if I can add some tips and highlights (not knowing if it's possible with hard-coded limits):

- Yari were the begging, the core and the end... They were prime - their long reach should rule in open space.

- Stab from bottom should be incredible quick - main attack. From top it should be slower, but high engough, so you can swing over head of a soldier in from of you.

- About AI it might not be possible to code preferable attack and/or based on sorroundings, but if so: In open space bottom (if behind ally top) mostly, in closed space switch weapon.

- As there are weapons with 2 options (javelins: throw vs stab) might be good to use that switch for spears if possible to either for quick swap for wakizashi or move the spear in hands (so you grab it near the tip to shorten length - easier to fight in tight spots) ... guess it's not possible to edit asset's/collision's position in game, so maybe use it as swap to second weapon, which will be the same, but moved.

- If only animation swap possible maybe add two variants of stabbing - one shorter faster both hands holding the yari, second slower but longer reach where you let it go and holds in the back hand only (hope you know what I mean)... also this would be only for shorter variants. :)
... and as I saw done breaking of those weapons in other mods, maybe add it to the second long-reach variant -> it would represent the situation, where you lost your weapon, because with only one hand, it's harder to hold it firmly. (again might not be possible to add it in only one of those animation variants).

- About swings - do not exaggerate it too much. 1) It would ended up with AI just swinging to their ally's backs, 2) not very practical. (You can do wide swing as one of anim. variants... the one with longer one-handed stab - the whole set would be slower, but better reach and stronger hits with swings. Otherwise make it more narrow - maybe more from bottom up, like you would want to cut enemy crosswise from hip to neck -> with this it would not be that wide, so less ally's backs hitting and better inside.

Hope it's any of use and will see it in your mod later on. :)
Anyway good work, keep going, thanks for all of us eagerly waiting.

Oh, actually there's a pic of Sunomata fort made in anime called 'Oda Nobuna no Yabou'... it actually fits my descriptions (although I've remember it just now... it had probably been hidden in my subconscious for a long time). :-D
So there's what I meant:

Ashigaru is different story. They also used armors, but not that strong and it did not cover that much of a body so one-hit-kill was probably very common there.

5) Again NOT mandatory. There as you've written it would create a LOT of problems. I would also gave it a low priority.

- AI usually fights often and doesn't care about leader at all - which easily could result in most of lords dead. Same goes for the limited number of companions.

You would need a efficient way of creating a system to replace them, or it would end up in 'ghost-city' situation. Examples:
- If lord dies but his party wins and there is some high tier samurai, he will replace him.
- If Daimyo have a lot of lands, but few lords, he will from time to time spawm a new one (like a reward for some of his best warriors.
- If Daimyo dies, lords will vote for a new one (like vote for marshal)... also there could be a chance to spawm rebels instead (more smaller factions) if they don't agree. (Again it might not be possible as I have a feeling that warband can't produce factions in-game, but relies on defined ones. Another option is to turn it to Ikko-Ikky faction instead. :)
- Also allow player, if he has his own faction, to create such lords. Without limitations it would be possible to spam too many of them, but that would be player's own choice and fault, so it's ok by me... if you ruin or make your game too easy deliberately, you can't blame modder, right? :)
(maybe limit him, to create lord only from top-tier troops)

But it would be very interesting and... versatile... if done well.

6) No castles: Good idea (default castles can be used for creating those temporary fortifications). Also maybe some unique items to be only in cities and only in specific cities, like they are specialized in creating of bows, arrows, guns, or naginata etc...

7) Large scale battles... not sure about game's limitations. Warband is pretty old... so I have hard time imagine truly big battles (not to mention people's PC limitations). Also make sure to adapt AI to get enough troops to keep up with such standard to avoid player easily overwhelming everyone with build up economy.
Also keep in mind AI changes for actual battles, as if left without good strategy, it would end up in jams... huge mass of bodies walking to single point.

I would focus more on smarter AI than on bigger battles, it would be a lot more engaging IMO.

8) Special places... well I'm in. But put them in use, otherwise it'll be too much effort for little gain. (Yes, doing it for for feel and fun is great, but you got a LOT to do). :)
I have nothing on my mind right know, maybe I'll come up with something later, if you'll want.

9) I would be for tribes on 100%... as I've told more accurate != more fun.

Other things:
Unique armors for each lord... well again, to much effort for little gain.
Especially if you would allow death, player would probably didn't even seen half of them because of it, and if you would spam new lords, you would have to pick some armor from the poll anyway.

As for too many places... if it would be possible to set it at the beginning of the game? Maybe give each City/Castle/Village binary flag (up to 111) and if player choose low population only those with &1 ... if medium those with &3 and high population -> all of them so &7... as always have no idea about modding limitations.
Another thing is, that with more places, even if you create a lot of scene, there will be a lot of repetitions... so it counters that feeling of many different scenes you've put effort into. So I'm actually for lowering it a little bit as well... even if it wound be optional.

And thats all for now, sorry for long text, but I hope that it'll be in any use for you.
Also if it did help you somehow, let me know if you would want help with anything else (well not anything as I'm terrible artist, and wasn't modding anyting in warband yet, so mainly if you would want help with some design...?) :)

And I can't wait, for another news or maybe release?... :) ... and story mode sounds great! Would love to see that.

Great job and don't forget, such work must always be done with joy!
So make sure to have breaks to keep it up. ;)

Hello, I've been thinking about playing warband after (maybe year?) and somehow I managed to find your mod (well gekokujo was my favorite).
First of all as far as I've read it's going to be great!
Secondly sorry for (probably many) mistakes in my English and it's going to be a LONG comment, hopefully helpful. :)
... and I'll repeat something from post above in order to keep it complete.
And I have to split it, as there's limit to 5000 characters.

Feedback to features:
1) Perma-death as already told, not mandatory! - it would lose a lot of casual players. Injuries: temporary damaged stats (it's already done in one of GameOfThrones mode and works not that bad)... but I would still keep it as option.
The thing about games is that more realism doesn't always mean more fun.

2) Nice idea, but I would put it somewhere at the end of priorities. If you would be able to do dynamic sea battles - then great, but again, I've seen them in GoT mod and it created a huge number of problems... mostly units falling under the mesh. I have no idea about Warband limitations, so I'll pass on discussion.

3) Buildable castles are nice, but if allowed to AI as well (might be very tricky) it could easily lead to many unintended situations you would have to take care about.
- Too many of those forts over whole map
- Are they destructible? -> to keep them low in numbers
- Will those new castles break single trade route leading to economy collapse in larger area? ... nice to be able to break economy of few cities, but if I'm not wrong... it does not matter that much to AI, does it?

Instead I would go in a way of temporary fortifications. Player (or AI) would be able to build a fortificated camp... something like a wooden frame of a fort.

- Wooden wall around it with a single gate (destructible like it's in gekokujo 3.1 maybe). Also it would be better to not build it as a whole, but instead as logs with spaces for archers to shoot... giving a link to a foto I've found:

Prntscr.com

If it would be a little tighter, attackers would have it not that hard to shot defenders as well, but still some shots would be blocked by that wall.
(Have no idea how much of a burden it might be for warband is it would require a lot of collision objects... but might be possible. Again if I take an example in gekokujo there are such 'fences' in windows just above gates.

- Few simple (not very high) tower in corners for archers
- In front of the gate few rows of ... don't know how it's called, but it's like spikes used to stop charges and lighten the pressure. It would serve for aesthetic purpose and maybe to make route to the gate a little more curved. Also there could be another spots for archers just behind them... but that might be little too much.
- If defenders are killed, destroy it (or possible capture?). AI would decide if it's near his territory to keep it, else burn it to the ground. (if such check wouldn't be possible, ten just burn it down all the time).
- Need to supply it with provisions? (again if possible) ... and maybe only for player ones.
- Wages at least as if it would be your party (surely not lower as it's used in castles/cities).
- Create a system to allow AI build them as well -> maybe on borders with factions in war... in peace is made, then destroy it. (possible? don't know)

As an real-world example you can take Sunomata fort before the siege of the Inabayama Castle, where (according to a legend) Hideyoshi build it over a night... well if it was quick it surely wasn't anything more, than such simple, but functional 'frame'.

4) One hit-kill. Again NOT mandatory! Also it would be best to have at as separate option to perma-death. As Nitebones suggested, a great damage in morale is awesome idea in that way.
BUT samurai armors were not that weak at all. Survival of few arrows is entirely possible... you would be injured, it would hurt as hell, but especially with adrenaline, you would keep fighting.

Posting a video with amazing tests of those armor:

I've found bug with city prison.
In Grom Peak (Orcs) is helded a Dwarf king, but I can't rescue him.
If I walk into city I found a prison guard, but not a prison itself.
He's standing if front of wooden cages, which I do believe are suppose to be the cells, but there isn't any door. If I pay him 100 gold he let me in (instantly getting into a prison), but if I kill him to get key I don't find anything where I can enter the prison.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with all orck's cities/castles, I've been only in Grom Peak.

Well yes it was suppose to be working, but it's not yet (you can marry only male lords as female now)... maybe in another patch it'll be possible vice versa. I've already told that it doesn't work to author, he knows about it, but he has plenty of more important work for the next patch. So let's just hope that it'll be there soon. :)

Yes it's with patch.
I was trying it as a woman too just to see if that female vassal isn't just marked as male lord inside the game. But it's not possible as male or female.

Hello,
it's still not possible to marry a female lord. At least not Utakata Yu Pan from Nippon colonies. As female i can marry any lord of them but not this one female vassal. I've tried it as both male and female, if it is not just marked as male, but I can't ask her no matter what. (increased relations to 100 with cheat menu... nothing works). :/

Pls look at dark elf assassins. This part of troop tree... especially those last ones, assassins, just doesn't seem well balanced. They are op imo. They have very high range skill with strong crossbow, and are very skilled in meele as well. And with that dodge, high hp, armor they are very hard to kill. Maybe at least lower their HP to somewhere about 50 points? ... but not those 95 or how much they have. And NPC lords castles doesn't lack them... it's not that 'rare' unit...

It's more like a visual bug in the mod menu. When you open up the menu, the battle minimap should be unchecked. Just double click it (both check and uncheck again), then close the option menu and map should be gone. It was working like that for me.

Nop... I've never even liked it in any mod anyway (it's was... boring)... if you have hard times at start just earn some money and exp in arena... buy few troops/mercenaries and go to some neutral faction. You can hunt their scouts and patrols for free... it won't make them hostile. I've started like that killing lizardmen... there was plenty of them and often with only low tier units from 10 up to 50 units.

Just another post of bug... :) When I spoke with wizzard and asked him for magical wards... I cannot ended the dialog. It was not lagged there was just no option in dialogue and LMB didn't ended it. Animation in person view was fine, so it wasn't just lag.

I was not able to trade goods with him... not lvl30 or winner of 10 turnaments... so it might be because of it that I lacked dialog options, but I had to kill the process in windows to end the game.

Does anyone play as Nippon? ... I just can't get into them and losing one battle after another... those spear units are just getting instantly smashed, especially when I stand for example vs giant Krosixor of lizard men.
And no I don't have Red Devils... it's just too high lvl... too early but right now I can't fight any lord even if he has only about 40 units. :/

When I tried to attack lizard castle and sended about 70 mid tier units against 40 defenders they all died on a bridge and killed just 1 enemy.

I'm for any tips on how to play with them... if someone can help me. :)

So it's not just me with command menu which disappear... it was ok for a while, but then 'something' happened and now I never see it.

Also if you use spear bracing command they won't stop it even with charge command... so if you as player die before ending spear bracing, they'll stay locked in it for the whole battle. :/

Also when I tried to allow AI to use formation AI... they always just stopped and watched me... even when I join a battle between two lords they were just watching each other and none attacked (until I send units close enough to lure the enemy... so both sides are just standing still waiting for player action).
