I am a part-time Graphic Designer, Acrylic Artist, and complete Game Junkie. I am 38 from Australia. I am a game collector and love to get the best mods for all my games. Now I am getting into being a modder myself.
Hopefully, soon I will be able to repackage the 3rd demo for later versions of GZDoom. I have been prescribed medical Cannabis and it's arriving in 2 days time. I hope this assists with the pain and allows me to not only repackage the 3rd demo but to get back to work on making textures for a 4th demo. The vaporizer cost me a small fortune but the grinder was cheap. I am prescribed LGP 20:5 oil (20mg THC + 5mg CBD per ml and I can have 5mls in a day, the rest is Cannabis flower 10g 1g per day), and as my vaporizer has a 0.1g chamber it means I can have 10 vapes in a day.
I can't seem to get the reckoning to work. when I start a game I get the Xatrix logo, then I am returned to the console with
and nothing further. I can type in that console too.
Ground Zero works fine as does the base game (except for the .OGG music looping before the track finishes)
Thank you. In 4-5 of days, I will be getting a shipment of medical Cannabis.
LGP Classic 20:5 oil (20mg THC + 5mg CBD per ml/50ml bottle, 5mls a day) and some Cannabis flowers to bolster it via a vaporizer 1g per day.
At the end of the month, my specialist is going to order Ketamine infusions. I hope when all is said and done that I can get back some quality of life.
I have not forgotten about repackaging the 3rd demo for GZDoom version 4.3.4 and higher. My fibromyalgia is not letting up. From the instant, I wake up to the moment the truckload of night meds knock me out I am in debilitating pain. I haven't even been gaming recently and have been using my PC to watch movies, Netflix and Watching TV with my HDTV tuner. I have a couple of appointments over the next 2 months where new medications will be added and I hope I can get some quality of life back.
I am in a lot of pain due to my fibromyalgia but the instant I am better I will repackage the 3rd demo in PK3's
Nice work. Looking forward to more.
For the moment I've archived the older demo files so only the latest files are not archived. Some people might want to use the second demo on GZDoom 4.3.4 and higher until my health is in a state for me to repackage the 3rd demo to PK3 files which means the main PK3 will have to be split because when my texture PK3 got larger than 2GB the textures didn't load.
I spent the last night in the hospital. My medications mixed badly and caused severe respiratory depression. It was life-threatening. Now I feel like garbage and am extremely depressed and lethargic.
I wish I was in good enough shape to repackage the mod to PK3 files for later builds of GZDoom. I really wish I was. Sadly, my fibromyalgia is severe and taking up my entire upper body, torso and arms. Sadly I am in too much pain to do this right now and the pain meds I am on aren't enough. I suggest sticking with GZDoom 4.3.3 which you can get here: Forum.zdoom.org
It looks like PK3's are needed and the skies in final doom are in PK3's. I'm not in good shape at the moment but as soon as I am able I will repackage it to PK3's, but this also means there will be micro and possibly macro stutter. I'd suggest using GZDoom 4.3.3 until I am in a condition to repackage and reupload it. Also, the main file will need to be split into 2 PK3's as whenever my PK3's got larger than 2Gb nothing loaded from them.
You can get GZDoom 4.3.3 from here: Forum.zdoom.org
I'm back out of the hospital but not in shape to go over my texture pack and try to find out why they don't work in GZDoom's above 4.3.3 I am suffering a combination of lower back pain and fibromyalgia pain in my entire upper body.
I'm not sure. If PB has it's own textures like brutal doom many of my textures won't show.
Just download the 3rd demo (1k or 2k textures) and the corresponding patch file. I only have the 3rd demo files pinned, but when I get out of hospital I will cull the older releases. At the moment you will need GZDoom 4.3.3 as they changed the way the textures load in later versions and I will need to try and figure out what to do with getting it to work on later versions of GZDoom and repackage it.
That's odd. What version of GZDoom are you using? Is it the official build or the DRDteam build? Did you use the latest version of WinRAR to unpack it? You need the official build 4.3.3 or less to use this pack, I have had reports of later builds only picking up the PK3 overrides for Final Doom. When I get out of the hospital I will look into this personally. I may need to repackage it as PK3 files (the main PK3 will be split into 2 PK3's as I found when the PK3 got larger than 2Gb no textures would load. I wish there was more I could do right now but while I am in hospital I have a laptop that overheats too easily (so I can't text GZDoom) and I have a crappy 4G modem with low speeds and very limited data (so I can't repackag the mod and reupload it).
From the reports I've been getting it looks like I have to go back to using PK3 files, which I am loathed to do as it introduces performance issues. When I get out of hospital I will shoot Graf Zahl a message and see what can be done.
Hopefully, I can get some help from Graf Zahl. I hope there is a way to continue with the file/folder structure as PK3's had too much lag and stuttering/freezing issues.
There is a good chance that newer versions of GZDoom only load textures fro PK3 format. I will look into this the instant I am home from the hospital, if I can't get it to accept textures from a folder I will have to repackage them as PK3 files. The main file will need to be split into 2 PK3's as whenever my PK3 got larger than 2Gb no textures would load. The problem is when having such high-resolution textures in PK3 files, there is all the micro and macro stutter which brings my GTX1080 to its knees and may also cause stutter on the high-end CPU's/GPU's of today. I remember when activating a switch in E1M2 near the exit the game froze for nearly 2 seconds every time. Forcing me to use PK3 files will be a huge barrier for my pack due to the performance issues it causes.
When I am out of hospital I will recompile it as PK3's but there will be a performance impact as GZDoom has to go into the PK3's to grab extremely high-resolution images that caused micro and macro stuttering that made my GTX1080 cry.
When I get discharged I'll also test later versions of GZdoom with the current format and see if the problem is affecting Windows or just Linux. The laptop I'm using in hospital overheats easily so I can't play GZDoom with my textures while in hospital.
Damn! Just use 4.3.3 right now until I get discharged from the hospital. I will have to shoot Graf Zahl a message on Doomworld when I get home and if he can shed light on the situation I will have to repackage the mod and reupload.
Maybe only PK3 files work, which will mean the main PK3 would need to be 2 files as when the PK3 got bigger than 2Gb the textures didn't load, and a return to that god awful lag.
Thanks for the report.
Do the override file PK3's for Final Doom still load?
I will have to check this issue out when I get out of the hospital, there is no way I can repackage the demo on re-upload it here. My only idea is they changed how the textures folder is named.
Try renaming the textures folder from TEXTURES to HIRES and get back to me to let me know if it worked, I could put up a PSA then.
If it doesn't work I can only suggest staying on 4.3.3 until I get a chance to figure out what to do and fix it.
Glad to assist. These textures can also be used in VR too as the 2K textures were too big and led to nausea-inducing low framerates.
Hopefully, there will be even more content in the 4th demo, but at least the 3rd demo has some new textures and has been formatted to remove most of the stuttering. I hope you enjoy these textures. I still can't believe I've been working on this for 4 years (since 2016)
You're very welcome. I hope you enjoy them.
I heard from one of my modding friends (the creator of Diablo3D) that Brutal Doom replaces some textures. Try backing up your Brutal Doom PK3 and opening the original one and delete or rename any folders marked HIRES or TEXTURES and see if that helps. You can open PK3 files with 7zip, Win7z, WinZIP, and WinRAR.
Let me know if that helps.
You're welcome. I hope you enjoy the mod.
Hi, thank you for your praise.
I have had issues when if the PK3 file is larger than 2Gb I can't get GZDoom to load the textures, I would have had the whole pack in a textures folder but I can't get GZdoom to pick up the Final Doom overrides in any folder configuration I tried so that's why they are still in PK3's.
At the moment I am resting as I contracted a lung infection and am very unwell. I can't sleep as it feels like there is a knife in my chest, so I am not working on textures, or even playing games, I am just watching movies on my PC until I improve.
Download GZDoom from here: Zdoom.org
Download the texture pack.
Download the update patch.
Install GZdoom to a drive and folder of your choice.
Copy your WAD files into the GZdoom folder.
Use the latest version of WinRAR to extract the texture pack in the GZDoom folder.
Use the latest version of WinRAR to extract the patch into your GZDoom folder, and when prompted select "overwrite"
Run the batch files from the texture pack, now in your GZDoom folder.
You can get WinRAR here: Win-rar.com
Hope this helps.
I have released update patches for both the 2K and 1K versions of the texture pack. These updates will remove the placeholder textures from the DHTP in Plutonia Experiment with new textures I made today. Find them in the files list. The download size is small. simply extract over the 3rd demo (1K or 2K) and when prompted by windows select "overwrite" and you're golden.
I just released the 1K variant of my 3rd demo release. This is for those with lower-end specs and for those that want to use HD textures in VR (GZ3Doom). Enjoy.
Don't use the DRDTeam builds, use the official builds. I just tested the latest GZDoom (4.3.3) and it works fine. Put the WAD files in the GZDoom folder, extract the texture pack into the GZDoom folder and run the batch files from the texture pack.
