It's a possibility, the main issue is the unit cap, because of it, some units share the same models in their regiments and officers.

Planes aren't a priority right now, especially because of their wacky animations, although airships will be added for the althis campaign.
The entire campaign is being reworked, including the regions and the map, so the problem should be fixed for the next release.

Battle AI has tried to be revamped as best as we could; it still lacks some micro and better positioning, tho.

There isn't a real fix to the campaign at the moment, we are truly sorry for it, the next patch will hopefully make campaign more stable.

This patch wasn't pointed towards fixing the campaign; the main goal was balancing the combat and fixing units' models, voices and animations.

Yes, income, maintance and other money stuff, just like the rest of the campaign, need improvement.

Yes, there will be an option to play without the steampunk ones, about the historical ones, I think cghopk has some "more historical" textures available, so, maybe.

There's always an option to choose a more historical campaign in the launcher.

Note: If your game crashes on Custom Battles, it could be because there are some factions like Morocco that have units with broken textures, or maybe because of elephants, silver surfers, etc
Be careful when selecting factions, cghopk is fixing the bugs around them

The mod folder needs to be in the "mods" folder, not in the main folder of the game
If you don't have a mods folder, then you'll need to create it (in the main folder of the game) and put the steamsteel folder in it, that should do

Rename the folder to "steamsteel", also check that the executable of Medieval 2 is in the main folder of the game
