vkQuake should work fine.
Most (all?) mappers for this used the TrenchBroom level editor.
vkQuake and Ironwail can both support high FPS. In fact, they run much faster than QuakeSpasm-Spiked on demanding maps like Tears of the False God.
Hey. Episode 2 is still happening and progress has been good recently, though it currently seems like it won't be out until next year. We haven't shown off the theme or anything yet, but I can say that the next episode will introduce new weapons and enemies, and we're also planning to release an updated version of episode 1 at the same time.
Hi. The map source files are included (in the src folder), so you can check this yourself by opening them in a map editor (TrenchBroom is the one most of us use). I haven't checked every single ambient_sound entity, but as far as I can tell they're all lower case, as are the sound files.
Could I ask what source port you're using, as well as the version?
