There is a in-craft computer; press Shift-M. Also, there is music (a lot of it in fact), try messing around with the audio settings in setup. If that doesn't work, you might want to post about it on the forum.

I believe the gameplay in NAEV is largely based on the Escape Velocity series, which doesn't have reverse thrust either. At least, not on normal ships; special 'inertialess' ships do, but those are really rare.

Small update: Stook and log0 are working on Vega Ogre at full steam, and we're preparing for the 0.5.1 Beta 2 release! Also, we have a new server; the site is now at vega-strike.org and the forums are now at forums.vega-strike.org

I can play it maxed on almost all levels (Bath gives me some trouble with reflections), and that's with a GMA X3100 IGP. It's optimized incredibly well.

I believe the main two goals right now are getting the Linux version working fully and making a Windows version; the Mac version is done.

Yes you can, in a way; once you get close enough, you can press the dock key to land. Vega Ogre will allow us to use seamless atmospheric flight, but that feature isn't quite ready yet.

You can do combat, trading, or just exploring; the game has an incredible number of systems to explore. Most people mix trading AI Cores and fighting Pirates/Luddites/Aera, but you can do pretty much anything.

The key bindings are in the data files, look at the VS wiki to see which one. As for mouse control, that's a setting in the setup program.

Better than which craft? There are a lot of craft available to the player by default, and if that's not good enough, you could try hacking the restricted ships (like the Andolian Tesla or the Aeran Leonidas). If you still want more power, you can make a new class of ship with ridiculous maneuver and damage ratings :P.

The multi-platform game files are version 2.5, but the Mac launcher is 2.4. The 2.5 version of the Mac has yet to be coded; running 2.5 files with 2.4 causes these errors.

Not a fan of the tail. It looks like you got a few cubes and smoothed the heck out of it. I would round out the rear fuselage, lengthen the fins, and make the wings look more like airfoils. Also, I doubt that jets would be practical for a UAV, because they're big and loud and they guzzle fuel. I love the front, though.
